Yamaha’s Upcoming Bike – YZF-R7 – 5 things you should know!

Yamaha YZF-R7

Yamaha YZF-R7 is scheduled to launch this bike in India sometime this year along with other bikes it had showcased at the dealer event recently.

Yamaha YZF-R7 is based on the MT 07

The Yamaha YZF-R7 is based on the street naked motorcycle, MT 07, as it shares the same steel frame and the same 689cc, twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which produces 73.4 bhp and 67 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an optimized secondary gear ratio for more sporty feel. It also has quick-shifter as an option.

Smaller than the YZF-R3

Since the YZF-R7 is based on the street naked motorcycle, MT-07, it has its advantages when it comes to the size and weight. Yamaha says the YZF-R7 fairing is smaller than that of the YZF-R3 and added that the YZF-R7 could have a slim body work around it due to the narrow chassis. The design of the YZF-R7 is inspired from the YZF-R1.

Tweaked Chassis

The Yamaha YZF-R7 shares many of its parts with the MT-07 but the chassis of the YZF-Rr has been tweaked a little. It now has revised geometry with the steering angle sharper and the wheelbase is shorter by 5mm as compared to the MT-07, which results in quicker direction changes and turn-in. The YZF-R7 gets a new adjustable 41mm KYD USB fork suspension at the front and at the rear link-type mono-shock suspension that can be adjusted for rebound and pre-load.

Braking Components different

The YZF-R7 outshines its sibling in braking as the YZF-R7 gets 298mm twin front discs and brake callipers mounted radially. The Brembo master cylinder mounted radially also helps in improving the braking performance and can be felt through the levers.

Price

The Yamaha YZF-R7 is priced at $8,999 which when converted to Indian rupees, it comes at Rs. 7.36 lakh which costs more $1,199 (Rs. 98,132) than the MT-07. When it’s gonna launch, no one knows, as Yamaha might launch it this year along with other models.
