Despite competitions from other segments, and the segment it’s competing in, the Nissan managed to sell 30,987 units of the Magnite!
Nissan Magnite recorded total sales of 30,987 units in 2024. The compact SUV has remained a key player in Nissan’s India lineup, offering affordability, a feature-rich cabin, and a turbo-petrol option. However, sales fluctuated throughout the year, with sharp gains in some months and notable declines in others.
Nissan Magnite Sales in 2024
January started strong with 2,863 units, but sales dipped slightly in February to 2,755 units, down 3.8 percent. March continued the downward trend with 2,701 units, a 2 percent drop. April saw a steeper decline to 2,404 units, an 11 percent decrease. In April, Nissan recalled the Magnite for front door handle sensor issue which affected models manufactured before December 2023. In May, the sales were 2,211 units, down by 8 percent. Nissan at this time, launched Geza Edition with CVT Transmission only. Sales continued falling in June to 2,107 units, a 4.7 percent drop, and further dipped in July to 2,011 units, down 4.6 percent.
August saw a recovery, with sales rising to 2,257 units, up 12.2 percent. However, September declined again to 2,100 units, down 7 percent. October was the best-performing month of the year, with sales surging to 3,119 units, a 48.5 percent increase, and reason would be the launch of Nissan Magnite facelift at Rs. 5.99 Lakh with new variant names, and new features. This momentum did not last, as November dropped to 2,342 units, a 24.9 percent decline, followed by another dip in December to 2,117 units, down 9.6 percent.
Reasons for Nissan Magnite’s Sales Fluctuations
The Nissan Magnite remains a value-for-money offering in the compact SUV segment, competing with models like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, etc, however, big competition from Tata Punch undermined its sales. While its pricing and turbo-petrol engine are strong selling points, limited dealership reach and mild updates compared to rivals may have contributed to inconsistent sales. The sharp rise in October was due to the launch of the Nissan Magnite facelift, which attracted new buyers. However, the year-end declines in November and December could be attributed to market stabilization after the facelift launch and buyers waiting for discounts or newer variants in 2025.
Final Thoughts
The Nissan Magnite finished 2024 with 30,987 units sold, maintaining its presence in the competitive compact SUV space. To strengthen its market position, Nissan could focus on more feature upgrades, better dealership expansion, and a possible hybrid or electric variant in the future.
