The Skoda Kodiaq facelift will lock horns with the likes of larger ladder-frame SUVs – Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. But how gracefully will the Czech SUV fare against these behemoths?

The Skoda Kodiaq facelift has measure 4,699 millimetres in length, 1,882 millimetres in width, and 1,685 millimetres in height. The Kodiaq facelift will have a 2,791 mm wheelbase. The Toyota Fortuner, which has a wheelbase of 2,745 mm and dimensions of 4,795 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,835 mm in height, is somewhat larger than the Kodiaq facelift in comparison. As a result, the Fortuner is 96 mm longer, 3 mm wider, and 150 mm taller than the Kodiaq facelift.

The Skoda Kodiaq facelift will be available with a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine that has a rated output of 190 horsepower. All three of its models will come standard with a 44 powertrain and an automated transmission. The Fortuner, on the other hand, has two engine options: a 2.7L gasoline engine and a 2.8L diesel engine. No matter which engine you choose, the Fortuner is available with either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed AT. The former produces 163 HP/245 Nm, while the latter produces 201 PS/500 Nm.

EXTEIORS

The Vision S idea was influenced by the Skoda Kodiaq. The Kodiaq’s headlamps are made of Czech crystal glass that has been placed into them. The front grille has an appealing three-dimensional design. Additionally, it has a strong road presence. Because of its clever design, this SUV doesn’t appear to be as large as it actually is. It is unlike the Fortuner in that it is based on a monocoque chassis.

The Toyota Fortuner appears to have a streamlined design in terms of aesthetics. The design had aged since the initial iteration, which was well-received. The next generation doesn’t resemble the previous one at all. The new Fortuner boasts 18-inch wheels, daytime running LEDs, smaller headlamps, and the sporty theme continues at the back.

INTEIORS

The Skoda Kodiaq boasts modern interiors that also have a very high-end vibe. The cabin is very functional as well. The rooms have a sturdy construction. Depending on the variant one purchases, the interiors are either black and beige or just black.

Interiors for the Fortuner have significantly enhanced. They have a premium yet somewhat garish feel. The Fortuner’s inside is well-designed and does feel and appear modern, but the dashboard is fairly cluttered and doesn’t have the same luxury feel as the Kodiaq. The Fortuner’s interior is all black, which does appear sporty. While the room for the first two rows is adequate, it could have been a little bit better for the third row.

FEATURES

Both models include a tonne of cosy and practical amenities. The Skoda Connect touchscreen infotainment system, which includes amenities like WiFi and Google Earth, is installed in the Kodiaq. Along with this, the infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Electric tailgate, umbrella holders, dual-zone automated climate control, start/stop button, and electric front seat adjustments are further noteworthy features.

Additionally, the Toyota Fortuner has a lot of amenities. Cruise control, paddle shifters, driving modes, one-touch tumbling seats, and a touchscreen infotainment system are among of this SUV’s standout features.
