Skoda will be debuting a new Premium Sedan that worries Toyota a lot for its Camry Sedan which recently launched!

The all-new fourth-generation Skoda Superb is set to make its India debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. Sharing the stage with the new Kodiaq and Octavia RS, the Superb promises a significant upgrade over its predecessor, with a revamped design, advanced features, and refined powertrain options.

Design

Skoda had revealed the Camry-rival, new 4th Gen Superb in late 2023 representinh an evolution of the outgoing model, embracing Skoda’s “Modern Solid” design philosophy. This approach combines sharp angular lines with traditional Skoda elements, giving the sedan a more contemporary and stylish appearance.

Inside, the Superb mirrors the interior design cues of the second-generation Kodiaq, featuring ‘smart dials’ on the dashboard for customizable functions. A larger 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system now handles most controls, complemented by a few physical buttons for added convenience.

Globally, the Superb also offers a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with a 100 km all-electric range and mild-hybrid technology for its petrol engines. While diesel options are available in other markets, their inclusion for India remains uncertain.

Fully Imported Model for India

The new Superb will be brought to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), similar to the outgoing third-gen model reintroduced last year. This shift is due to the Superb’s production moving to the VW Group’s Bratislava plant, which lacks the facility to produce CKD kits for local assembly.

Skoda’s decision to import the Superb aligns with the challenges faced by the previous model. Even as a locally assembled vehicle, the Superb struggled to achieve high sales volumes. The current third-gen import version is now being offered with year-end discounts of up to ₹18 lakh, bringing its effective price to around Rs. 38 lakh (ex-showroom).

India Launch and Competition

The fourth-gen Superb will face stiff competition in India from models like the Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Camry Hybrid, BYD Atto 3, and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. Skoda may need to price the new model competitively to attract buyers in the premium sedan segment.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, starting January 17, will reveal more details about the Superb’s India launch, features, and market positioning.
