Tata Motors had unveiled its production-ready SUV, the Tata Curvv, at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024. But now as reported earlier, the Curvv is slated to launch later this year, likely between June – July of 2024. Below are the key details about Tata’s latest offering.

Tata’s upcoming launch, the Tata Curvv, draws inspiration from its own models like the Nexon and Harrier/Safari, it features a distinctive coupe-like roofline, standing out in a segment dominated by more traditional SUV designs such as the Creta and Seltos. The Curvv showcases thinner connected LED DRLs reminiscent of the Nexon, except its slightly larger. The grille now sports a combination of piano black and body-color finishes, a departure from the fully body-colored finish seen previously.

Additionally, the front bumper hosts new LED headlamps and fog lamp housings reminiscent of the Harrier and Safari. Notably, an additional air vent placed between the grille and license plate housing hints at possible variations between petrol and diesel models of the Curvv. Moreover, the front bumper’s air intake has been enlarged, akin to the Nexon’s design, and now features faux silver skid plates both at the front and rear.
On the sides, the Tata Curvv introduces door-mounted wing mirrors and flush door handles, a first for Tata SUVs in this segment. Moving to the rear section, the LED light bar now features a dark tint, while the connected LED tail-lamps showcase production-ready elements. Vertically positioned air inlets on the rear bumper accommodate additional reflectors. The latest reveal of the Curvv SUV confirms several features for the top trims, including a 360 Surround View Camera, connected LED DRLs, vertically split LED headlamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Tata Motors revealed the dimension of the Curvv SUV at the Expo. The SUV measures 4308 MM in length, 1810 MM in width, and 1630 MM in height along with a wheelbase of 2560 MM, and a good usable boot space of 422 L. This makes the SUV fall behind its main rivals – Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, and Hyryder in dimensions as they’re way more roomier and spacious; but still ahead of the VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq in the segment.

Jumping to the Engine Options, the SUV is slated to get multiple powertrains, but first lets talk about the ICE version. So, the ICE version will get two Engine Option – 1.2 L Direct Injection Turbo Petrol which produces 123.29 BHP and 225 NM of torque and its likely transmission choices would be the 6 Speed Manual, and 7 Speed DCT Gearbox. The second option is the 1.5 L Diesel Engine which is taken from the Nexon, and therefore it’ll have the same 113.31 BHP Power and 260 NM of torque paired to 6 Speed Manual and Automatic Gearbox.
Tata however, plans to launch the electric version first to get an head-start against its upcoming three rivals – Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVX, and Toyota Urban EV. The EV technical details hasn’t been shared by Tata, but it’s likely dimensions will be similar to the ICE version. There is also an possibility that Tata may also introduce an CNG option for the SUV with Manual and Automatic Gearbox choices.
Lastly, as per reports, Tata will be launching the Curvv SUV in June or July 2024. It’s likely the EV will launch first followed by the ICE version launch.
