The owner of the Mahindra BE6, Yatin, previously drove a Nexon EV for over 63,000 km and shares that his shift to the BE6 was motivated by the need for a high-range electric vehicle with strong intercity performance. He highlights that while the Nexon EV offered a real-world range of just 200–220 km against the claimed 300+ km, the BE6 has consistently delivered 420–430 km in real-world conditions, despite a claimed 680 km range. Yatin says this kind of range has made long-distance driving more reliable, reducing range anxiety even in hilly regions like Shimla.

Charging Experience and Real-World Efficiency

The owner mentions that he took the BE6 to Shimla and back without recharging en route and still had 35–40% battery left after reaching Rohini, Delhi. He says he didn’t stop to charge at any point during the drive and only halted for meals, which reassures that the BE6’s efficiency in real use cases is quite dependable. Yatin does add that extra time must be accounted for during intercity travel in EVs as mental preparation is essential, even if charging is scheduled during regular breaks.

Driving Style, Regeneration & Mode Usage

He points out that sudden braking and acceleration are range killers in EVs. Owner says he drives his BE6 smoothly like a regular petrol or diesel car to maintain consistent regeneration. He mostly uses the default drive mode and avoids switching to the range mode, despite the BE6 featuring a large 79 kWh battery. He explains that compared to his older Nexon EV’s 55 kWh pack, the BE6 offers a significant improvement in energy storage and efficiency.

Buying Decision & Price Justification

Owner reveals he didn’t even take a test drive before purchase and finalized the BE6 primarily due to its futuristic design and ₹4 lakh lower price compared to the N9. He says the BE6’s aerodynamic bumpers, modern interior layout, and premium design sealed the deal for him. He purchased the car for around ₹29 lakh, inclusive of an 11 kW wall charger, and adds that although the charger is yet to be installed, the Mahindra team is scheduled to complete it soon.

Suspension Comfort & Build Quality

Addressing concerns from a previous owner, Yatin says he did not feel the suspension was too stiff. After the first service at 2000 km, he says the car has become even smoother to drive. He appreciates the 90° door opening angle and says the cabin feels very spacious. Contrary to some opinions, he says the center console does not feel claustrophobic and that the overall layout is more open and stylish compared to the N9.

Interior Tech & Driving Experience

He highlights that the BE6 is loaded with sensors—six in the front and six at the rear. While he did face one issue where the central infotainment screen went blank during a trip from Chandigarh, he says the drive was unaffected, and the issue was resolved with a quick software update at the service center. The owner adds that the interior finish, panel gaps, and plastic quality are all top-notch and that the BE6 feels more like a luxury EV despite its sub-₹30 lakh price tag.

Brand Perception & Road Presence

The owner says the BE6’s road presence is unmatched in its price segment. He claims even drivers of luxury brands like Mercedes and Audi glance over to take a look at the car. He calls the BE6 a proper head-turner with futuristic features that will likely remain relevant for the next 5–7 years. He also appreciates the frunk and finds the center divider design very premium.

Minor Drawbacks

While he has high praise for the vehicle, he points out minor issues like the glossy body and center console being prone to scratches due to the lack of PPF and protection accessories. He suggests Mahindra should consider providing pre-coated surfaces or accessories as part of the package. He also wishes for customization options in the rear display and more refined implementation of smart remote features like auto park, which he couldn’t get to work.
