Mahindra was spotted testing the 5-door version Thar numerous times as it prepares itself to rival the Maruti’s 5-door Jimny, and Force Gurkha 5-door which will launch in 2024 and so will the Thar. Mahindra will add new features in the 5-door Thar to give tough competition to it’s rivals, and therefore here are the top 5 features that could be game changer –

LED Headlamps

In the current 3-door Thar, Mahindra offers Halogen headlamps instead of LEDs and this could change when it launches the 5-door Thar in 2024 as Mahindra could offer the LED headlamps possibly for top variants to stay in level with the Maruti Jimny.

Sunroof

The current 3-door Thar does not have sunroof because it has hard-top, and soft-top roof. The Thar is convertible, meaning the roof can be removed to have an aiery feeling when off-roading or cruising on the highways. However, the 5-door version Thar will not have the option to remove the roof, therefore, Mahindra is adding single-pane sunroof to make up for it and to get the aiery feeling in the 5-door version Thar as well.

Six Airbags

Mahindra currently offers only two airbags in the 3-door Thar and this could change as Mahindra will add six airbags across all the variants as it’ll have to comply with the Government of India safety norm which will be effective from October 1st, 2023. This norm states that all the carmakers has to add six airbags across all the variants as standard, otherwise they won’t be allowed to sell the car.

New Infotainment System

In the current 3-door Thar, it has a 7-inch infotainment system which really looks outdated and does not blend with the dashboard design of the Thar. So, to stay updated, Mahindra could add the 8-inch infotainment system which will be the same as the one in Scorpio-N with updated UI and refreshed.

Brake Limited Slip Differential

It is possible Mahindra could introduce a new feature in 5-door Thar which is present in the upcoming five-door Jimny, it is called the Brake Limited Slip Differential, and what it does it provides traction to tires so that at low-speed it doesn’t spin it wheel and help you clear that area.
