Volkswagen is planning an aggressive start to this year by launching 3 New Cars for the Indian Market that includes the flagship seven-seater Tayron R-Line SUV, Taigun Facelift, and the Virtus Facelift. This product offensive marks a significant expansion of the brand’s portfolio, catering to everything from high-end luxury seekers to volume-driven compact SUV buyers.

1. Volkswagen Taigun Facelift

The upcoming Volkswagen Taigun facelift is currently under testing and is poised to follow the same path as its sibling, the Skoda Kushaq, bringing refreshed styling and a more premium interior to the competitive SUV segment. While the cabin is expected to receive a significant material upgrade, the feature set will likely align with the updated Kushaq such as new 10.25-inch Full Digital Cluster, Rear Massage Seats, Panoramic Sunroof suggesting that high-end tech like ADAS and 360-degree cameras may remain absent. Under the hood, the 1.0 L and 1.5 L turbo-petrol engines will be retain, car enthusiasts can anticipate the introduction of a new 8 Speed automatic transmission to sharpen the driving experience.

2. Volkswagen Tayron R-Line

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is set to become the brand’s flagship SUV in India, marking its re-entry into the premium seven-seater segment. Positioned above the Tiguan, this locally assembled SUV features a 2.0 L TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and standard AWD. Its substantial footprint, highlighted by a 2,789 mm wheelbase and 4,770 mm length, provides a spacious three-row layout with a boot capacity that expands to 850 litres when the third row is folded.

The R-Line trim elevates the SUV’s presence with sportier bumpers, 19-inch diamond-cut alloys, and advanced IQ.LIGHT HD Matrix LED headlamps. Inside, the flagship experience is defined by a massive 15-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, and ergoActive Plus front seats featuring heating, ventilation and massage functions. Safety is a high priority, evidenced by a five-star Euro NCAP rating and a suite of Level 2 ADAS features. Expected to launch by March 2026 with a price tag near ₹50 lakh, the Tayron R-Line will compete directly with rivals like the Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner.

3. Volkswagen Virtus Facelift

The Volkswagen Virtus is set for a mid-cycle refresh later this year, drawing inspiration from the upcoming Taigun facelift to elevate its interior and features. Drivers can expect a more premium cabin with high-quality materials, a new fully digital instrument cluster, and the addition of an 8-speed automatic gearbox paired with the 1.0 L turbo petrol engine. These updates aim to keep the sedan competitive by offering a smoother driving experience and a more modern tech suite.
