Kia has introduced the Carens Clavis with a host of new features, setting it apart from the standard Kia Carens. Today we explores the major differences between the Kia Carens Clavis and the Kia Carens, highlighting the upgraded technology, safety, and convenience features in the Clavis model.
The Kia Carens Clavis comes equipped with seamless integrated dual 12.3-inch displays — one for the infotainment system and the other for the digital driver’s display. In contrast, the standard Carens is limited to an 8-inch infotainment system with a semi-digital instrument cluster. Previously, the Carens had dual 10.25-inch displays in select variants, but these were discontinued.
Carens Clavis boasts a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, enhancing cabin ambiance and offering an airy feel. The standard Carens, on the other hand, previously had a single-pane sunroof, which was eventually removed from the line-up.
A major upgrade in the Carens Clavis is the inclusion of Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) with 20 safety functions, such as Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The standard Carens lacks ADAS entirely.
The Carens Clavis is equipped with a 360-degree surround view camera paired with a blind spot monitor, offering enhanced visibility and parking assistance. In contrast, the standard Carens only provides a rear parking camera.
Driving comfort gets a boost with the Carens Clavis, which features a powered driver seat with electronic recline and sliding functions. The standard Carens only offers manual adjustments for the driver seat.
The Carens Clavis rides on stylish 17-inch alloy wheels, while the standard Carens is limited to 16-inch steel wheels with covers. Discontinued variants of the Carens had 16-inch alloy wheels.
Another notable upgrade in the Carens Clavis is the addition of an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function, available from the HTK+ variant. The standard Carens uses a manual handbrake setup.
The Kia Carens Clavis significantly elevates the experience with its advanced technology, safety, and convenience features. It is a clear upgrade over the standard Carens, making it an appealing choice for buyers seeking a feature-packed family MPV.
