Interior
The cabin of the Thar Roxx is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also includes a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster with navigation display. The interior feels premium and is loaded with features like ventilated seats, powered driver seat, etc. Soft-touch materials are used on the dashboard, and both rows get padded armrests. It also comes with rear AC vents, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless entry, and push-button start. Rear doors allow easy access to the second row, and there’s a spacious boot for added practicality. However, the light-coloured interior is prone to dirt, and both the infotainment system and the 360-degree camera can feel slightly laggy at times.
Space and Comfort
The Mahindra Thar Roxx has tons of space like 447 L boot space, a big size centre armrest to store cans or other small stuff, small bottle storage spaces on doors. The SUV offers a commanding driving position that immediately gives a sense of control and dominance on the road. The high seating provides excellent visibility, ideal for both off-road trails and city traffic. While the front seats are generally supportive, they fall slightly short in under-thigh comfort, especially noticeable on longer drives. In contrast, the rear seats are well-cushioned and ergonomically set, offering a comfortable experience for passengers. The overall cabin feels functional and spacious for a 3-door SUV, with wide door openings aiding easy ingress and egress. Soft-touch materials and a purposeful layout further complement its adventure-oriented appeal.

Drive Review
We had the opportunity to take the Mahindra Thar Roxx for an long drive, and here’s what we found. We drove the top-spec variant, AX7 Luxury, a fully-loaded variant which was powered by a 2.2 L diesel engine that delivers strong linear power, ensuring confident performance both on highways and off-road trails. Paired with a smooth-shifting manual transmission, the Thar Roxx feels capable and composed across different driving conditions. While it’s not built for outright speed, the throttle response is well-calibrated, and the power delivery is consistent, making overtakes and climbs feel effortless. During our drive, the SUV managed to average mileage of 7 kmpl, which could be a concern for those looking at fuel efficiency in daily commutes.
The driving experience of the Thar Roxx strikes a solid balance between ruggedness and everyday usability. It comes equipped with two drive modes – Zip and Zap – that tailor the throttle response and steering feel to match city or spirited driving. Zip mode is best suited for calm urban cruising, while Zap sharpens the dynamics for quicker throttle inputs. The steering is light and easy to maneuver, especially helpful in city conditions, and NVH levels are surprisingly well-controlled for a diesel. Suspension tuning is impressive, soaking up potholes and undulations without feeling too floaty. Braking performance is confident, offering good bite and control even under sudden stops.
Ride and Handling
With its body-on-frame construction and generous 226 mm ground clearance, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is built to tackle rough terrain with confidence. Despite its tall stance and sizeable dimensions—4,428 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width, and 1,923 mm in height—the Thar Roxx remains impressively planted through corners. There is some body roll, expected from a high-riding SUV, but it’s well-controlled and never feels unsettling. The long 2,850 mm wheelbase contributes to better stability at higher speeds, while the suspension setup strikes a good balance between comfort and firmness, effectively absorbing undulations and broken roads.
Our Verdict
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is a solid blend of rugged capability, everyday usability, and head-turning presence. It offers strong diesel performance, a smooth gearbox, and well-calibrated suspension that handles rough terrain and city roads with equal confidence. Drive modes enhance driving versatility, while the high seating position and spacious rear seats add to cabin comfort. Fuel efficiency could be better, but for those seeking an authentic off-road SUV that doesn’t compromise on road manners or practicality, the Thar Roxx stands out as a capable and character-rich choice.
