2025 MG Hector: Interior

The MG Hector’s interior has a clean and modern layout, mainly due to the removal of most physical buttons. All key functions are now controlled through a large 14-inch vertically placed touchscreen infotainment system. The dashboard gets wide horizontal AC vents and is available in a dual-tone theme for a more upmarket feel. It features a classic three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with a fully digital instrument cluster behind it. The engine start/stop button is placed on the left side, near the infotainment screen. A panoramic sunroof adds an airy and premium feel to the cabin. On the centre console, there are physical buttons for ventilated seats, parking sensors, and more. A manual handbrake is placed next to the cupholders, and there’s a central armrest with storage space underneath. At the rear, the seats can be reclined and come with a 60:40 split feature for added practicality. The cabin also includes ambient lighting with 8 colour options and an 8-speaker Infinity sound system, offering a premium in-car audio experience.

2025 MG Hector: Drive Review

We got the chance to drive the MG Hector Savvy Pro CVT, which is the top-end variant and quite massive in size. It is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 141 BHP and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed CVT gearbox, both sending power to the front wheels. The SUV delivers a fuel efficiency of around 12.34 to 13.79 kmpl, backed by a 60-litre fuel tank. One of the highlights is the impressive cabin insulation—it does a great job of keeping road noise out, even at speeds above 80 kmph.

The Hector comes with three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. No matter which mode you select, engine noise inside the cabin stays minimal, and overall NVH levels are well managed. The SUV is equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels, and during our 60 kmph brake test, the Hector came to a stop quickly and confidently.

The steering is light, which makes driving in the city effortless, especially during frequent turns or narrow roads. However, as you go beyond 80 kmph, you start to feel slight vibrations and a bit more weight on the steering. It’s clear that the Hector is more tuned for a comfortable, efficient drive rather than high-speed performance. Thanks to the upright bonnet design, the driver gets a clear view of the road ahead, adding to the overall confidence behind the wheel.

2025 MG Hector: Ride and Handling

The MG Hector is equipped with a soft suspension setup that offers a smooth and comfortable ride, especially over potholes and speed breakers. It absorbs road imperfections well, keeping passengers relaxed and undisturbed inside the cabin. When it comes to handling, the Hector manages to take on corners with ease and stability, without any major body roll or discomfort. The front suspension consists of a McPherson strut with coil springs, while the rear uses a beam assembly with coil springs. This combination ensures a balanced and composed ride, making the Hector suitable for both city drives and highway cruising.

2025 MG Hector: Verdict

So, is the MG Hector top variant worth choosing over its rivals? The answer is a strong yes if your focus is on space, comfort, and features. While it may miss out on a few extras offered by competitors, the Hector stands out with its bold design, spacious cabin, and premium interiors. The Savvy Pro CVT variant offers a luxury-like experience with features like a 14-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and an Infinity sound system. Ride quality is smooth, and the suspension handles rough roads with ease. It also offers better mileage than many rivals in the segment, making it a practical option for daily use and long trips. If you want a tech-loaded, comfortable, and spacious SUV, the MG Hector remains a solid and value-rich choice.
