
The month of August is right around the corner and will see many car launches from big carmakers like Mercedes-Benz, Tata Motors, and Volvo. Here is everything about the car launches that you should know about!
Mercedes-Benz GLC (Launch Date: August 9th, 2023)
Mercedes-Benz confirmed it’ll be launching the second-gen GLC in India on 9th August with bookings open at Rs. 1.5 lakh. The GLC will be sold in India in two variants – GLC 300 and GLC 220d and both will be equipped with the Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC off-road tech. The GLC 300 will be available with 2.0-litre petrol, and the GLC 220 will be available with 2.0-litre diesel and both variants will be equipped with a 48V integrated started motor producing 22.68 bhp. Two big screens – a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and an 11.9-inch for the portrait infotainment system, dominate the interiors of GLC.
Tata Punch ICNG (Expected Launch: August 2023)
Tata Motors is expected to launch the CNG fuel option for the Punch SUV, and it’ll come with a few new features like a sunroof, and a new digital instrument cluster, similar to the updated Altroz, with a separate gauge for CNG fuel level. The boot has been reworked by removing the spare wheel and fitting two 30-litre CNG cylinders in its place to retain almost the same space as the Petrol and Diesel only versions. The Punch CNG is powered by the 1.2-litre ICNG Engine producing 72.41 bhp and 103 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed Manual-only Gearbox.
Tata Nexon Facelift (Expected Launch: August 2023)
Tata Motors has been spotted numerous times now testing the Nexon Facelift, and we’ve seen the changes, they’re going to make to the SUV. It’ll be getting a new digital instrument cluster, a new 10.25-inch infotainment system, a digital display on the new two-spoke steering wheel to control the instrument cluster, and a few functions of the infotainment system, Exterior will see front and rear end design change inspired from Tata Curvv. It’ll also get a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol powertrain producing 118.35 bhp and 170 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed Manual and 7-speed DCT Gearbox.
Tata Tiago and Tigor ICNG (Expected Launch: August 2023)
Tata Motors is also expected to launch the updated CNG version of Tiago and Tigor which is going to be the same as Altroz, that is, a dual 30 litre CNG cylinder installed in the boot by reworking the boot a little to retain almost all of the boot space. Other than that, everything else remain the same, nothing different.
Volvo C40 Recharge (Launch Date: August 2023)
Volvo had unveiled the electric SUV C40 Recharge in India ahead of August launch, and this would be theirs second electric SUV after the XC40 Recharge SUV launched last year. The C40 Recharge looks almost identical to it’s ICE version, except for the rear where it has coupe-like roofline and raked rear windscreen. This led to redesign of LED taillamps and tailgate as the taillamps has wrap-around effect and comes with new reverse lights. It also has two-part spoiler at the rear, one on the boot lid, and one on the roof with unique twin-pod design which should improve aerodynamics.
Inside, the dashboard design is the same as other Volvo cars, and is equipped with 9-inch portrait oriented infotainment system flanked by slim AC vents, and three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with digital instrument cluster. The C40 Recharge gets dual motor set-up, one of each axle with a 78 kWh battery pack producing 402.41 bhp and 660 Nm of torque, and comes with claimed range of 538 km.
