Toyota India to launch a new SUV that is a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and will consist of same features as Fronx. The only change it’ll undergo is cosmetic changes over the Fronx for Toyota to sell from their dealerships. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Toyota Taisor!

Toyota Taisor – Design

From the outside, the Toyota Taisor will have Glanza-inspired front grille with LED DRLs, below that it’ll have tri-rounded LED Projector headlamps, and few cuts on the bonnet for aggressive look. The bumpers at the front and rear are finished in faux silver skid plate. Moving to the side, the side profile will look the same as the Maruti Fronx which is body cladding all over the body with 16-inch alloy wheels, non-functional roof-rails on top, and chrome line finished on the bottom of the window frame. Moving to the rear, it has LED taillamps with connecting LED light bar and a little spoiler at the top.

From the inside, the Taisor will have no interior change over the Fronx. It’ll have a 9-inch infotainment system placed above the AC Vents and at the sides, AC Vents are positioned horizontally. The Fronx has been given the option for the dual-tone dashboard and the same is expected for Taisor. It’ll come with three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with Analog instrument cluster and TFT display, two USB-ports at the rear and one at the front. It has fabric seats on offer with rear seats having 60:40 split and the SUV is equipped with 6-speaker Arkamys sound system.

Toyota Taisor – Dimensions & Powertrains

In terms of Dimensions, the Toyota Taisor will measure the same as the Maruti Fronx, i.e, 3995mm in length, 1765mm in width, and 1550mm in height. It’ll feature wheelbase of 2520mm, ground clearance of 190mm, boot space of 308 litres, and Petrol Fuel Tank of 37 litres and Single CNG Cylinder of 55 litres.

When it comes to Powertrains, the Taisor will sport three options – Petrol, Turbo Petrol, and CNG. The 1.2-litre DualJet, Dual VVT petrol engine puts out 87.29 bhp and 113 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed Manual and 5-speed Automatic Gearbox. The next is the 1.0-litre Turbo BoosterJet petrol engine which produces 100 bhp and 147.6 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic Gearbox. Last option is the 1.2-litre CNG producing 76.43 bhp and 98.5 Nm of torque paired to 5-speed Manual Gearbox only.

Toyota Taisor – Features & Price

In Features, the Taisor will come with features like LED Projector headlamps, LED taillamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, analog instrument cluster, 9-inch infotainment system with Wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, wireless charging pad, voice commands, 6-speaker Arkamy’s sound system, and height adjustable driver seat. Safety features include six airbags, 360-degree camera with rear parking sensors, automatic headlamps, heads-up display, Cruise Control, Traction Control, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Assist, ISOFIX anchorages, and Front Disc Brakes.

As for the pricing, Toyota is expected to price the Taisor from Rs. 7.8 lakh and it’ll have a warranty period of 2 years/40,000 km that can be extended to 5 years/2,20,000 km.

Toyota Taisor – Verdict

In the end, the decision to buy which SUV depends totally on you, however, it is recommended to buy the Maruti Fronx given the Taisor is just going to be rebadged with few exterior changes, but will come with same features, same interiors, and powertrains. Although, if you want you can wait for the launch of the Taisor SUV which is expected to be in November 2023, and it’s possible that you might like the Taisor exterior changes over the Fronx.
