With the introduction of new trim Sprint, the entry-level price drops insanely down by Rs. 83,000 compared to the previous Style trim which was priced at Rs. 10.81 Lakh. Additionally, the turbo petrol engine is now available only with the top Savvy Pro Shangria trim while before it was available with 3 variants.
MG has now added new features for the SUV like ventilated seats, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless charging pad, and wireless Apple Carplay / Android Auto. The base Sprint is pretty loaded with features like LED Headlamps, DRLs, Dual-tone interiors, soft-touch dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, and a 10.1-inch Infotainment System. This is really great for people who wants to buy the base trim of Astor but also wants some big features as well. Moreover, the i-Smart infotainment Software has been updated.
In Engine Options, it’s still the same like the 1.5 L Petrol Engine producing 108.5 BHP and 144 NM of torque paired to 5 Speed MT, and 8 Speed CVT Gearbox. Then there is the 1.3 L 3 Cylinder Turbo Petrol engine producing 138.08 BHP and 220 NM of torque mated to 6 Speed Automatic Gearbox only.
In the end, the sub Rs. 10 Lakh pricing for the Astor puts it in direct competition with the Citroen C3 Aircross which is priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh with just Rs. 1,000 difference. Other than that, the Astor will compete with Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta Facelift launching on January 16th.
