We are just two days from the launch of 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS.Also the upcoming hatchback has already started reaching a number of Hyundai dealerships across the country.
The present Grand i10 has been a top seller for a long time with winning the Indian Car of the Year Award as well.With the launch of Grand i10 NIOS, the existing Grand i10 hatchback will also continue along with the i10 NIOS.However, the first generation Grand i10 will still be available in the Hyundai range as it is still in huge demand doing more than 5000 units per month.
But the main thing is that Hyundai Grand would only be offered with a 1.2 litre petrol engine while the diesel variants will be discontinued post the launch of Grand i10 NIOS.In late 2019 or early 2020, the petrol models will be upgraded to BS6.
Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS will be a slightly premium offering over Grand i10.It will be dearer over Grand i10 by around Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000.The increase in price will be complimented by better features, safety features and upgraded engine options along with refreshing interior and exterior design.
A number of exterior changes that are visible includes new sharp projector headlamps and 1st in segment projector fog lamps which is also seen on Hyundai Verna sedan.It sports all new 15-inch diamond cut alloys, new tail lamps with emergency stop signal.
The interior theme upholstery is all new as well.There is black and ivory colour theme with steering wheel and infotainment system similar to that of Hyundai Kona.The ac vents design are very premium and derived from Santro hatchback.For the front seats, still there won’t be any adjustable headrests.
There will also be an overall increase in the specifications of the hatchback when compared to Grand i10.The boot space will also go up by 10-15%.Due to better length, width and wheelbase, there would be much more space inside the cabin as well.
Feature wise, it was already decently loaded.Now it gets Arkamys sound system, new 5.3 inch multi information display, new infotainment system with Apple Carplay, android auto and other support features, best in class wireless charging and fully automated air control with eco coating technology, shark Finn antenna and rear ac vents.
ABS with EBD, high speed alert system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, front seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensors, front dual airbags, engine immobiliser will be standard for New 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS.
It will be built up on the same platform as of Venue which is the advanced version of K1 platform which will also form base on a number of upcoming Hyundai and Kia cars.Like other Hyundai Cars, it is made up of Advanced High Strength Steel and High Strength Steel.
There will be a total of 6 colour options for Grand i10 NIOS with two new monotone colours as well.Dual tone Sportz variant will come in two exterior paint theme including Polar White with black contrasting roof and Aqua teal colour and black roof combination.
Both the petrol and Diesel engines will be carried forwarded from Grand i10.The 1.2 petrol unit will now be BS-VI compliant while the diesel counterpart will be BS-VI ready.Both these variants gets the option for 5 speed MT and AMT option.Since it is a in house developed automatic unit, the cost would be comparitively low.
A total of five trims would be on offer starting from base Era model and going unto top end Asta model.Petrol manual would be available in all 5 variants while petrol automatic will be only in Magna and Sportz trims.Diesel manual would make way to only Magna and fully loaded Asta while there would only be a single diesel AMT variant which would come in only Sportz model.
Official bookings for the upcoming hatchback are already underway at an amount of Rs. 11,000 at the Hyundai India website or by contacting your nearest Hyundai showroom.It would be launched in India on August 20, 2019.It would be the third launch by Hyundai for the year for India.
