Tata 45X Base Variant Spied | Launch in August 2019

Tata 45X has been one of the most anticipated cars of 2019.Tata 45X will be a premium hatchback by Tata and will rival the likes of established players including Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai Elite i20.Tata 45X was also showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 along with Tata Harrier and other cars.

Tata Motors India will introduce 7-8 cars between 2019 and 2020.And there first car will be Tata Harrier which will be launched on January 23,2019.It is based on OMEGA platform and derives power from 2.0-litre fiat-sourced KRYOTEC engine.The second car will be Tata’s premium hatchback, that is, Tata 45X.Although the name of the hatch is yet to be confirmed, but is expected to debut in India in August 2019.

Tata 45X will be carry Impact design philosophy.A new ALFA platform forms the basis of Tata 45X which will also be used for Tata’s upcoming premium sedan taking on Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Tata has already started testing it’s 45X hatchback in India and has been spied testing a number of too.Recently the base variant of the upcoming premium hatchback has been spied testing.The spy images reveal the exterior of the car.On the exterior, the base variant gets black colour outside door handles.The wheels will be of 14-inches for the base trim and comes without wheel covers.On the front, Tata’s humanity grille and  projector headlamps with LED DRLs will be the key exterior features.Fog lamps housing will be just below the headlamp unit.The front end bumper with large air intakes looks quite muscular.The rear of the hatchback draws inspiration from Tata Harrier.It gets Harrier like tail lamps which are split type LED tail lamps.The rear bumper is big in size which houses reflectors.Other prominent elements on the outside includes shark-finn antenna, sloping roof line, big front and rear bumpers and stylish 15-inch wheel arches.

Tata 45X is expected to wear sporty black upholstery.Tata premium cabin greets us with floating touchscreen infotainment system similar to that seen on Nexon as well as Harrier.The 7-inch Touchscreen Infotainment system will come with Android Auto, Apple Carplay and Mirror Link.Although it derives a number of elements from Harrier, it is important to note that the controls for the infotainment system will be placed under the hazard lamp activator which along with A/C vents are housed between the touchscreen infotainment system and it’s controls.As we move a bit downwards, we find the AC controls.Auto A/C will be on offer for the top-spec trims.These controls looks quite similar to those seen on Harrier.Steering wheel carrying Steering controls along with voice command features is treated with premium chrome accents.Piano black finish will be seen on dashboard as well as door trims.Gearbox of 45X will be a new one by Tata which is expected to be a 6-speed unit.One of the major attractions of 45X will be twin pod instrument cluster which will be super-informative.

Top-spec trim of this premium hatchback will feature engine push start/stop button with keyless entry, Auto A/C, 6 airbags, height adjustable driver seat, cooled glovebox, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 15-inch alloys, automatic headlamps, electrically foldable and retractable ORVMs, tilt and telescopic steering and much more.Standard safety features list will be long as it gets ABS with EBD, speed sensitive auto door locks, impact sensing auto door unlock, driver seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensors, dual front airbags, ISOFIX child mounts, high speed alert system and central locking.

Coming to the engine options, petrol engine will be a 1.2-litre unit paired to a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission.A mild hybrid 1.2-litre petrol engine is expected to come in later 2019 which will also replace the standard 1.2 L petrol engine of Nexon.1.5-litre Revotorq diesel unit will also be paired to 6-speed manual and AMT gearbox which will be the most powerful in the segment.

Tata 45X is expected to be launched in India in August 2019.Prices of the premium hatchback will sit between Rs. 5.7 Lakhs and Rs. 8.5 Lakhs.
