Citroen is gearing up to introduce its third SUV in India, following the C5 Aircross and C3 Aircross. The upcoming coupe model, named the Basalt, has been frequently spotted undergoing testing on Indian roads. Ahead of its launch, the SUV has been spied with production-spec alloys.
Citroen Basalt Coupe: All Details!
The latest spy shots of Citroen Basalt SUV highlights the coupe-style design with a sloping roofline that seamlessly integrates into the boot. The SUV features prominent wheel arches with black accents around the windows, extending from the A pillar to the C pillar. The exterior elements include black ORVMs, black rear bumpers, and wrap-around taillights. More importantly, we can see the SUV is equipped with production-spec alloys which is either 16 or 17-inch Alloy Wheels. The front face is reminiscent of the C3 Aircross including the headlamps setup.

Regarding features, the Basalt SUV is likely to come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, an auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, push-button start, and ventilated seats. For safety, Citroen plans to include six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and seat belt reminders as standard across all variants.
Although Citroen has not yet disclosed detailed information about the Basalt SUV’s powertrain, it is expected to be equipped with the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine found in the C3 Aircross. This engine, capable of producing 109 BHP and 190 NM of torque mated to 6 Speed Manual and Automatic Gearbox Choices.
Citroen Basalt is expected to be priced from Rs. 11 Lakhs with launch taking place later this year. Upon its launch, it’s main rival would be the upcoming Tata Curvv. Other targeted rivals will be the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and so on.
