New Mini Jeep Wrangler Spied for the First Time!
Jeep is gearing up to expand its portfolio in India with an all-new, compact off-roader. A Mini Jeep Wrangler has been spotted testing for the first time in Maharashtra, heavily camouflaged in white. Visually, it carries the unmistakable DNA of the Wrangler, but in a smaller, more city-friendly package.
Mini Jeep Wrangler Spotted: What’s Visible So Far
The rear profile of the spied SUV looks strikingly similar to the full-size Jeep Wrangler. From the tail-lamps and bumpers to the upright stance and body lines, this test vehicle closely mirrors the premium off-roader. Even the side profile hints at a shrunken version of the Wrangler. However, the alloy wheels are fully covered — suggesting Jeep might tweak the design slightly to differentiate it visually.
You may be questioning, if everything looks the same then how come it’s a Mini Jeep Wrangler?

You can see in that spy shot, the SUV has a red temporary registration number plates, and it’s possible in terms of looks, the SUV will share same bits with the Wrangler, but the noticeable difference would be the dimensions. Jeep may reduce the size of the Wrangler from 4.86 meters to around 4.4 meters along with a shorter wheelbase of 2.6 – 2.7 meters to rival, the Mahindra Thar Roxx.
Expected Engine Specs
While Jeep hasn’t officially revealed the powertrain details, this Mini Wrangler is expected to borrow the proven engine from the Jeep Compass:
- Engine: 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel
- Power Output: 168 bhp
- Torque: 350 Nm
- Transmission Options:
- 6-speed Manual
- 6-speed Automatic
- This setup ensures a balance of everyday drivability with serious off-road potential.

Positioning
Jeep is likely to focus on core off-road features and rugged utility rather than loading it with premium equipment. The Mahindra Thar Roxx currently dominates the segment with a wide feature list, priced between ₹13 – ₹23.39 lakh.
Jeep’s compact Wrangler-inspired SUV is not expected to undercut the Thar Roxx significantly in pricing. Instead, it will position itself as a below the Compass as lifestyle SUV with Wrangler looks, capable diesel performance, and solid 4×4 capabilities.
Final Thoughts: When Will It Launch?
Manufacturing will take place at Jeep’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune, indicating local production for cost-efficiency. Given that testing has just begun, a launch timeline of 2026 seems realistic.
The Mini Jeep Wrangler is shaping up to be an exciting option for those who want the Wrangler’s iconic looks and off-road credentials in a smaller, more affordable package. With a diesel powertrain, shorter dimensions, and Jeep’s off-road DNA, this SUV could shake up the lifestyle SUV market in India.
