Ford is working on re-launching the EcoSport SUV but there’s a catch! It’s not coming in India, it’ll relaunch in other global markets including Europe.

Ford in India had filed a new design patent which looks like its for new-gen EcoSport. This EcoSport is expected to transition from just Petrol to Petrol Hybrids and even in Electric version as well. There are plans to introduce a “new multi-energy model” in Europe. This SUV will help to fill the gap with the Ford Fiesta, and Focus. Positioned as an entry-level SUV, the previous EcoSport model garnered sales of approximately 50,000 units annually in Europe, positioned below the successful Puma.

The upcoming generation of the Ford EcoSport aims to target a broader user base by offering hybrid and electric powertrains at an affordable price point. In Europe, it will compete primarily with the Renault Duster, a popular option with over 2.2 million units sold since its 2010 debut, with the new generation expected to boost sales further.
Main question is if the SUV is headed to India? While they did filed a design patent in India, there are reports suggesting Ford is not planning to launch EcoSport. India had a biggest fanbase with the SUV with it known as the SUV that popularize the Segment in India. Although the sales started to drop way fast than they may have expected, it’s possible if they launch it in India, the EcoSport could become very popular and compete with the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, etc.
