This new Creta-Rival will probably have the best-in class rear seat experience at an affordable price!

Tata will be reviving the Sierra for the Indian Market by introducing it in a new avatar which will have modern elements, powerful powertrain options, and features focused towards people’s comfort. Let’s take a look at this upcoming new Tata SUV expected to launch later this year.

Tata Sierra – Design

The Tata Sierra comes with a modern look by having connected LED DRL strip at the front and tail-lamps at the rear. The SUV draws inspiration from the original Sierra featuring signature design elements such as prominently elevated bonnet large alpine windows, flush-type door handles, squarish wheel arches, and thick black cladding form part of the design.

Inside, the Sierra features a modern cabin with three display screens – a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment unit, and an additional passenger-side touchscreen – all expected to be 12.3 inches. Key interior features include a four-spoke steering wheel adorned with an illuminated Tata logo and ambient lighting throughout the cabin. Reports indicate that Tata will offer both 4-seater and 5-seater configurations for the Sierra.

Tata Sierra – Powertrain Options

The Tata Sierra will be available with three distinct powertrain options – Petrol, Diesel, and Electric:

  • Petrol Variant:
Powered by a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine developed in-house by Tata Motors, producing 168 BHP and 280 Nm of torque.
Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DCA (Dual Clutch Automatic).
  • Diesel Variant:
Equipped with a 2.0L diesel engine sourced from Stellantis, delivering 168 BHP and 350 Nm of torque.
Similar to the petrol version, it will offer a choice between a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCA.
  • Electric Variant (EV):
Expected to feature two battery options:
    • A 55 kWh battery pack (also available in the Tata Curvv), likely offering a range of over 400 km.
    • A larger 65-70 kWh battery pack, which could extend the range beyond 500 km.

Tata Sierra – Features

The Tata Sierra is set to become the most feature-rich SUV in Tata’s lineup, expected to offer an extensive range of advanced features, including –

  • Triple 12.3-inches Displays – Infotainment, Driver’s Display, Passenger’s Display
  • Panoramic Sunroof

Tata Sierra – Launch

Tata Motors is currently testing the Sierra SUV, with plans to launch the electric variant in the second half of 2025, followed by the ICE version by the end of the year. Measuring 4.3 meters in length, the Sierra will primarily compete with models like the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara. However, its feature set and capabilities could also position it as a strong contender against higher-segment SUVs, including Tata’s own Harrier.
