
Honda had globally premiered the Elevate SUV in June but is yet to announce the pricing of the SUV. However, we know everything about the SUV and we thought of comparing it against the Tata Harrier to see if the Elevate is worth buying over the Harrier!
Honda Elevate vs Tata Harrier – Design


From the outside, the Elevate has a front grille with small rectangular blocks pattern on it with Honda logo at the center, LED headlamps and two round fog lamps underneath, a large chrome element that connects with the headlamps, and a flat bonnet with few cuts and creases. The bumpers are finished in faux silver skid plate. The Elevate share’s the design cues with the HR-V SUV that is sold overseas. Moving to the side, it has slightly flared wheel arches for a chunky SUV, chrome door handles, non-functional roof rails, and rides on 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, it has a L-shaped LED taillamps with dual lines inside them, roof spoiler on top with shark fin antenna, and an indentation around the number plate housing.


As for the Harrier, it has LED DRLs and round-blocks on the grille with chrome line around the grille and LED DRLs that gives a spreaded-V look. Below that is the LED headlamps and fog lamps below it with chrome line around the outer side of the fog lamps, and at the bottom center of the grille, it has radar for ADAS, which you’re not able to see in the above image, but it is present in the updated variant. Moving to the side, it has simple look with wheel arches and rides on the 18-inch alloy wheels. It has chrome lining at the top and bottom window frame, and door handles finished in chrome. As for the rear it has sleek LED tail lamps with small spoiler on the roof.


From the inside, it has a 10.25-inch free-standing infotainment system with rectangular AC vents below and at the sides, and below the automatic climate control is the wireless charging pad and two USB charging ports next to it on the right, and below that is two cupholders. The Elevate uses soft touch leather materials on the dashboard, leather for the seats, and on the doors. The Elevate has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with 7-inch instrument cluster as well. The push start/stop button is placed on the left next to the infotainment system behind the steering wheel. Moving to the rear, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio and has 8-speaker surround sound system.
As for the Harrier, it has the 10.25-inch infotainment system above the AC vents and at the sides it has horizontally positioned AC vent. The Harrier has the dual-tone dashboard option. It has multi-function three-spoke steering wheel with digital instrument cluster, and a huge panoramic sunroof. It has two USB ports at the front, two in second row, and two in the third row. It has drive modes selector in front of gear lever, electric parking brake with auto hold, and buttons for the ventilated seats at the side of the seat. The third row has a 40:60 split seat and second row has 60:40 split seats.

When it comes to Dimensions, the Honda Elevate measures 4312mm in length, 1790mm in width, and 1650mm in height. The Tata Harrier however measures 4598mm in length that is longer by 286mm, width of 1894mm which is 104mm wider, and height of 1786mm that is taller by 136mm. The Elevate has a wheelbase of 2650mm, ground clearance of 220mm, and boot space of 458 litres where as the Harrier has a wheelbase of 2741mm that is longer by 91mm, ground clearance of 205mm that is 15mm higher, and boot space of 425 litre which is 33 litre smaller.

In Engine Options, the Elevate comes with a normal petrol powertrain which is something the Harrier doesn’t come with. The Elevate is powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine that pumps out 119.34 bhp and 145 Nm of torque paired to 6-speed Manual Gearbox and an Advanced CVT Gearbox.

The Tata Harrier is powered by the turbo diesel powertrain, something that Honda is never to offer with the Elevate SUV. The Tata Harrier is powered by the 2.0-litre Kryotec turbocharged diesel engine that produces 167.67 bhp and 350 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic Gearbox.

The Tata Harrier starts at Rs.15 lakh for the base variant ‘XE’, and goes up to Rs. 24.07 lakh for the top variant, ‘XZA+ (O) Red Dark Edition Automatic’ and the Honda Elevate SUV is expected to be priced at Rs. 12 lakh for the base variant.
As for the warranty, the Elevate has a warranty period of 3 years/1,00,000 km that can be extended up to 5 years/unlimited km and Tata offers 3 years/1,00,000 km warranty period for the Harrier that can be extended up to 5 years/unlimited kms.
Honda Elevate vs Tata Harrier – Verdict
In the end, the decision to buy which model depends totally on you, however, it is recommended to buy the Tata Harrier given how much bigger it’s in dimensions, feature loaded, powerful engine and performance. The Elevate on the other hand looks spacious from outside and inside, and it’s got good amount of features, and it’s performance is similar to it’s own sedan, Honda City. So, if you can afford the Tata Harrier, then you should go ahead and just buy that, otherwise you can wait for the official pricing announcement of Elevate to decide whether to book the SUV or not.
