Kia Seltos On Fire – What Happened?
The owner had sent his Kia Seltos for AC Service Check-up at Noida’s Kia Service Center, and after servicing was done, Kia’s authorized service providers were taking a test drive to check whether they solved the issue or not. Unfortunately, on 23rd July, around 10.20 AM, the SUV caught fire, and the front section of the SUV started to melt down as the fire started to spread across the whole SUV.
According to the owner, he says the SUV was on fire due to the poor quality of materials used in his SUV, and is asking Kia Motors to give him a new car. He further said, “I’ll take strict action against the company and the showroom. I’ll raise a complaint in court. I want a solution and you need to provide it as soon as possible.”
Kia Seltos On Fire – How did the SUV Catch Fire?
So, how did the SUV catch fire? Well, the car AC refrigerant gas is highly flammable and it is possible that the gas must have leaked and been exposed to the engine causing a chemical reaction that could lead to fire. Another reason the SUV caught fire could be the malfunction of electrical components. The AC is dependent on electrical components like the compressor, fan motors, wiring, etc. If there was a faulty wiring or short circuit, it can lead to extreme heat generation and possibly cause a fire.
Other reasons could be compressor overheating due to lack of lubrication, excessive workload, or mechanical failure, and can catch fire. Maybe the Condenser was blocked or clogged, and possibly aftermarket modifications were although, from the images, aftermarket mods couldn’t be seen, so not sure about that.
Kia Seltos On Fire – How to Avoid?
To make sure your car does not catch fire through the AC, you should stick to the scheduled maintenance plan, which includes daily check-ups of the AC. The next thing is always to get your car checked by qualified or experienced technicians familiar with the AC system. Avoid installing aftermarket modifications as they may not meet safety standards and possibly ignite your car. Always watch out for the signs, and keep your car and the AC area clean. Use the AC only when required, and do not keep it on unnecessarily for longer periods as it could increase the overheating risk.
Monitor the gas level, if you notice the levels down, have the refrigerant gas levels checked, as it may be an indication that the gas is leaking. Additionally, the Seltos that you’ve seen here is a pre-facelift version and not the new Seltos that comes equipped with ADAS.
