The Kia Sonet is available with two petrol engines: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit, as well as a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.2-litre engine produces 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The Kia Sonet Turbo, on the other hand, produces 118 bhp and 172 Nm and is available with either an iMT gearbox or a seven-speed DCT transmission. Kia Sonet diesel comes in two models: WGT and VGT. The Kia Sonet diesel WGT produces 99 bhp and 240 Nm and is only available with a six-speed manual transmission. The Sonet diesel VGT, on the other hand, produces 113 bhp and 250 Nm.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza, however, is available with 1.5-litre K15c engine which puts out 101.65 bhp and 136.8 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a choice between a five-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Brezza both manual and auto model gets Progressive Smart Hybrid system that includes dual lithium-ion battery system to offer improved fuel efficiency, idle start-stop, torque assists functions, and brake energy regeneration.

In terms of size brezza is taller and more spacious as compared to kia sonet. It even provides more of a bold and muscular look as compared to sonet.

Kia Sonet price starts at Rs 7.49 Lakh ex-showroom for 1.2 HTE (Petrol) and Maruti Brezza price starts Rs 7.99 Lakh ex-showroom for Lxi (Petrol). Whereas for top models brezza is 13.96 lakhs ex showroom and sonnet is 13.19 lakhs ex showroom. As sonnet is cheaper in price it gives it a competitive advantage.
