Maruti Fronx vs Mahindra XUV300 – Exterior and Interior


The Fronx design at the front is inspired from their own mid-size SUV, Grand Vitara. It has LED DRLs with tri-rounded LED projector headlamps below the DRLs . The bumpers of the fronx front and rear are finished in faux silver skid plate. It has body classing all over the car with 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and non-functional roof rails. Moving to the rear, it has LED taillamps with connecting LED light bar and a little spoiler at the top.


The XUV300 has a halogen headlamps with grille that rectangular chrome blocks on it and the fog lamps is a halogen as well. The bumpers at the front and the rear are finished in faux silver skid plate with four chrome line above the bumpers. Moving to the side profile, it has roof rails on the top that looks functional, with simple design and cladding on the doors as it rides on 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear side, it small spoiler with high mount stop lamp, LED taillamps, and rear wipers on the rear windscreen.


As for the Fronx, it has 9-inch infotainment system placed above the AC Vents and at the sides, AC Vents are positioned horizontally. The Fronx has been given the option for the dual-tone dashboard. It has three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with Analog instrument cluster and TFT display, and has no sunroof on offer, unfortunately. It has a two USB-ports at the rear and one at the front. It has fabric seats on offer with rear seats having 60:40 split. It also has 6-speaker Arkamys sound system.
The XUV300 has a 7-inch infotainment system placed between the AC vents and has sort of curved-square shape AC Vents positioned horizontally. It has the option for the dual-tone dashboard. The XUV300 has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with analog instrument cluster and TFT display between the analog dials, and a single-pane sunroof. It has a rotary dial to control the HVAC function of the car. It has two USB ports at the front and no USB ports at the rear. The rear seats are split in 60:40 ratio. It has the 6-speaker sound system as well.

The Fronx has 190mm ground clearance which is 10mm more than the XUV300 ground clearance of 180mm. As for the boot space, the Fronx has 308 litres that is 51 litres bigger than the 257 litres boot space of XUV300. The Fronx has a 5 litres smaller fuel tank as it’s got 37 litres while the XUV300 has 42 litres fuel tank. Lastly, the Fronx has a kerb weight of 1,060 kg which is 420 kg lighter than the 1,480 kg kerb weight of XUV300.

Both the Fronx and XUV300 has a turbo powertrains on offer. The Fronx has one turbo petrol engine and the XUV300 has one turbo petrol and one turbo diesel engine on offer. But first, the Fronx has the 1.0-litre Turbo BoosterJet petrol engine which produces 100 bhp and 147.6 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed Manual Transmission with fuel efficiency of 21.5 kmpl and 6-speed Automatic Transmission with fuel efficiency of 20.01 kmpl.

Other than the turbo petrol, the XUV300 has a turbo diesel powertrain. The 1.2-litre turbo diesel engine puts out 115.05 bhp and 300 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic Gearbox. Both the SUVs, other than the turbo engines, has the non-turbo engines as well. The Fronx is powered by 1.2-litre DualJet, Dual VVT petrol engine that puts out 87.29 bhp and 113 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed Manual and 5-speed Automatic Gearbox. In Manual, the Fronx has 21.79 km/l fuel efficiency and in Automatic, it has 22.89 km/l fuel efficiency. It has no diesel engine on offer.
The XUV300 has a 1.2-litre petrol engine that puts out 108.62 bhp and 200 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic Gearbox. It has 16.82 km/l fuel efficiency in Manual and 16.5 km/l fuel efficiency on Automatic Gearbox.

As you can see, the XUV300 misses out on features such as Ambient lighting, rear AC vents, and Voice Control. However, the Fronx does not have a sunroof on offer. The XUV300 has a 7-inch infotainment system where as the Fronx has 9-inch infotainment system, the XUV300 has 2-zone climate control while the Fronx just has automatic climate control.

When it comes to safety features as well, Fronx misses out on Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), where as the XUV300 has reverse-parking camera instead of 360-degree camera. Also, Fronx only has front disc brakes, the XUV300 has disc brakes on all the wheels. I think the XUV300 and Fronx both have equal points here.
