The Maruti Invicto launch is less than a week away with few features that will be seen for the first time in a Maruti model. This is obviously a rebadged Toyota Innova HyCross with same features yet it’ll be exciting to see how the Maruti’s customer or fan base will react. But the main question everybody is asking, what’s the difference between the two Premium MPV’s?
Maruti Invicto vs Toyota HyCross – Design
Front the outside, the Innova HyCross has an LED headlamps with a huge hexagonal face with chrome line around the grille and at the bottom, it has LED DRLs that act as a indicators as well. The bonnet of the HyCross has cuts on it to give it a meaner or sportier look. Moving to the side, it has cuts as well, chrome line that runs at the bottom of the window frame, wheel arches as it rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, it has LED taillamps with roof spoiler, shark fin antenna on the top, and the bumper are skid plate.
As for the Engage, the difference over the HyCross is the different front fascia which is similar to Grand Vitara like front grille, slightly redesigned taillights, Grand Vitara-like NEXT-re LED DRLs in the headlamp units, and the lower bumpers has been redesigned which looks kind of similar to the XL6. The 18-inch alloy wheels design is the same as the HyCross, and Toyota logo’s has been replaced with Maruti Suzuki’s logo.
From the inside, the Innova HyCross and Engage will be look the same and it’ll just be software change. Both the MPV’s has a 10.1-inch infotainment system placed above the rectangular shaped AC vents and the AC vents at the sides are positioned horizontally. Both has the dual-tone dashboard theme option and has leather seat upholstery. Both the HyCross and the Engage has the three-spoke multi-function steering wheels with a digital instrument cluster and the push start/stop button is placed on the left side near the infotainment system.
Both has a huge panoramic sunroof, two charging ports at the front, two charging ports in the second row and third row. Around the gear lever, it has buttons for ventilated seats, electric parking brake with auto hold, EV mode (drives on electric power) and other things as well. The second row gets the captain seats with under thigh support as well, and between the two captain seats is the table with two cupholders, and both has the 9-speaker JBL sound system.

When it comes to Dimensions, both the MPV’s measure’s the same. The HyCross and Invicto has a length of 4755mm, width of 1845mm, and 1785mm in height. The wheelbase of both the MPV’s gonna be 2850mm, ground clearance of 185mm, and boot space of 300 litres. The HyCross and the Invicto has a fuel tank capacity of 52 litres, and kerb weight of 1,915 kg.

In Engine Options, the Innova HyCross comes with petrol-only powertrain, something which is missing from the Invicto. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TNGA Petrol Engine produces 172.99 bhp and 209 Nm of torque mated to a CVT Gearbox.

Next Powertrain is the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TNGA 5th Generation Petrol-Hybrid Engine producing 183 bhp and 188 Nm of torque mated to an eCVT Gearbox. Maruti will be borrowing this powertrain from the HyCross to power their Invicto MPV.
Maruti Invicto vs Toyota HyCross – Features
When it comes to features, the HyCross has features like the ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, 2-zone automatic climate control, digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 9-speaker JBL sound system, panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, captain seats with ottoman function for second row passengers, ambient lighting, connected car tech, and ADAS with features such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), high beam assist, lane trace assist, blind spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic alert, and Pre-Collision System. In Safety, it has six airbags, TPMS, ABS with EBD, Traction Control, ISOFIX anchorages, Hill Assist, Hill Descent Control, and ESC.
However, the Maruti Invicto will miss out on Powered Tailgate, ADAS, and JBL Sound System while offering rest of it’s features.
Maruti Invicto vs Toyota HyCross – Price
the Toyota Innova HyCross starts at Rs. 18.55 lakh for the base ‘G’ variant and goes up to Rs. 29.72 lakh for the ZX (O) Hybrid variant which is top of the line variant in the line-up. The Maruti Invicto comes with only variant, Alpha Plus, and is expected to be priced at Rs. 20 lakh as the launch event of the Invicto is scheduled for July 5th.
