
MG Comet EV has officially launched and while it doesn’t have any direct rivals, Tata Tiago EV is the closest competitor to the Comet EV. So, we thought we do a comparison of both the EV to see which one is the better option.
MG Comet EV vs Tata Tiago EV – Exterior and Interior


MG Comet EV features a boxy design with full strip LED light bar running through the ORVMs and MG calls it Extended Horizon connecting lights. There are round-shaped rectangular LED headlamps with the same design for the taillamps as well. Below the light bar is the charging port which has illuminated MG logo on top of it. Moving to the side, the Comet EV rides on 12-inch alloy wheels, has vertically mounted windows which cannot be lowered down for passengers at the rear seats and also has crooked window for the front driver and passenger. Moving to the rear side, it has the same MG’s Extended Horizon Connecting Lights.


At the front, it has blacked out element and Halogen headlamps with blue accent running just below the black element. It has LED fog lamps with blue accent covering. Moving to the side, it has 14-inch alloy wheels with blue part of the alloy wheel finished in blue color and the EV has a clean side profile. It has LED indicators with bulb as indicators and blue accent at the bottom of the rear bumper.


The Comet EV has white and grey interiors which will catch dust remains easily. It has dual 10.25-inch displays, one as infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, one as instrument cluster with two-spoke multi-function steering at the front, and also has a rotary dial for drive modes. The front passenger seat gets one touch tumble and fold feature and rear seats are split in 50:50 ratio. It has 2-speaker in-built sound system.
The Tiago EV has black and cream interior with three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, AC vents above them and control for the HVAC below the system. It has round dials for drive selection and 8-speaker Harman sound system.

As you can see at the Dimensions, the Comet EV has a length of 2974mm which is 825mm shorter than the 3769mm length of Tata Tiago EV. The Comet EV has a width of 1505mm which is 172mm less than the Tiago EV width, 1677mm. The Comet EV has a height of 1640mm which is 104mm longer than the Tiago EV height of 1536mm. The Comet EV has a wheelbase of 2010mm which is 390mm shorter than the Tiago EV wheelbase of 2400mm. The Comet EV has a turning radius of 4.2 meters which is 0.9 meters short than the 5.1 meters turning radius. The Comet EV has a kerb weight of 815 kg which is 420 kg lighter than the Tiago EV kerb weight of 1,235 kg.

As you can see, the Comet EV is powered by 17.3 kWh battery pack that puts out 40.41 bhp and 110 Nm of torque and offers a maximum claimed range of 230 km and takes 5 hours to charge from 10 – 80% and 7 hours to charge from 0 – 100%. The Comet EV has a top speed of 100 kmph. The Tiago EV is powered by 24 kWh battery pack that puts out 73.75 bhp and 114 Nm of torque with maximum claimed range of 315 km and takes 6 hours 50 minutes to charge from 10 – 100%.

As you can see at the features list, MG Comet EV misses out on features such as cruise control, and rear AC vents. It only has 2-speakers while the Tiago EV has 8-speakers.

The MG Comet EV is available in one variant only and is priced at Rs. 8.31 lakh while the Tata Tiago EV is priced at Rs. 9.05 lakh for the XE base variant and goes up to Rs. 12.59 lakh for the XZ+ Tech LUX Fast Charging variant.
As for the warranty, Tata Tiago EV has 3 years/1,25,000 km warranty on the vehicle and 8 years/1,60,000 km warranty on the battery pack.
MG Comet EV vs Tata Tiago EV – Verdict
In the end, the decision to buy which car depends totally on you, however, the MG Comet EV is in a category of it’s own as the Comet EV is focused on city rides and Tiago EV can be taken for long journey dues to range, comfort, and practicality, so if you buy Comet EV, it will be limited to city rides as there is not boot space on offer as well while Tiago EV has some amount of boot space at least.
