MG’s new Majestor will be way more feature-loaded than its sibling, MG Gloster.
MG in upcoming months will be launching the Majestor SUV which sits above the Gloster in new D+ Segment. So we thought of comparing it with the Toyota Fortuner, the leader of this SUV segment to see if MG’s new SUV is strong enough to dethrone Fortuner.
MG Majestor vs Toyota Fortuner – Design

The MG Majestor features a bold and muscular design, taking inspiration from the Maxus D90 SUV, which is available in markets like South Africa. At the front, it sports a large blacked-out grille with horizontal slats and a prominent MG logo. A split headlamp setup enhances its aggressive stance, with sleek LED DRLs positioned above vertically stacked main headlights. A rugged silver bash plate and black cladding running along the SUV’s length add to its commanding road presence. The side profile is highlighted by 19-inch diamond-cut, five-spoke alloy wheels, chrome-finished running boards, and blacked-out elements on the upper half, including the door handles and wing mirrors. At the rear, the Majestor boasts wraparound connected LED taillights, while its bumper design, featuring dual exhaust tips and a chunky skid plate, bears similarities to the MG Gloster.

While the showcased model had tinted windows, limiting visibility of the cabin, spy shots of the MG Majestor on test in India reveal a tech-laden and premium interior. It features a free-standing 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster with customizable displays. The all-black cabin theme adds a sporty and sophisticated touch.Given that the MG Gloster offers premium features like a panoramic sunroof, heated, ventilated, and massaging driver’s seat with power adjustment, a heated front passenger seat, three-zone climate control, wireless charging, a 12-speaker audio system, and an electric tailgate, the Majestor is expected to be even better equipped, enhancing comfort and convenience for occupants.

At the front of the Fortuner, there is the grille in three horizontal lines with chrome elements going at the side and covering the LED headlamps on both the sides, below is the bumper finished in faux silver skid plate both front and rear. Moving to the side, it has step-up side step to get into the car with chrome door handles, chrome line at the bottom of the window frames and alloy wheels of 18-inch. At the rear, it has sort-of wing like LED taillamps with chrome around the number plate and a roof spoiler with shark fin antenna on top.

As for the Fortuner, it has a 8-inch infotainment system placed below the AC vents and the AC vents at the sides are positioned horizontally. It does not have the dual-tone dashboard theme option but it has leather seat upholstery. The Fortuner has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with Analog instrument cluster and a TFT display between the Analog dials. It does not have a sunroof but has two charging ports at the front and rear. It has buttons for the ventilated seats and ahead of the gear lever is the wireless pad. The second row has captain seats and the rear seats is better for children or adults for short journeys, and lastly it has the 6-speaker standard sound system.

MG Majestor vs Toyota Fortuner – Verdict
Both the MG Majestor and Toyota Fortuner are premium full-size SUVs, but they cater to slightly different audiences. If you’re looking for a tough, proven, and resale-friendly SUV, the Fortuner is a solid choice. However, if you want a more feature-loaded, spacious, and modern alternative, the MG Majestor is worth waiting for.
The MG Majestor stands out with its bold design, larger-than-usual MG grille, connected LED taillights, and premium styling elements. Inside, it’s expected to pack a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a fully digital instrument cluster, and an all-black, tech-forward cabin. Given the features seen in the Gloster, the Majestor is likely to offer segment-first comforts like a powered tailgate, ventilated and massaging seats, a premium 12-speaker audio system, and advanced driver-assistance features.
On the other hand, the Toyota Fortuner is a tried-and-tested SUV with a powerful diesel engine, high reliability, and a strong road presence. While it may not be as feature-rich as the Majestor, it delivers excellent off-road capability and Toyota’s legendary durability.
So, what’s the better choice? If you ask us, we’d recommend waiting for the MG Majestor. It’s set to bring a fresh take to the segment with more tech, comfort, and premium features than the Fortuner. However, if you need an SUV right now and prefer reliability and resale value, the Fortuner is still a great pick. The decision is yours—will you wait for the Majestor or go for the Fortuner today?
