This new SUV offers insane power and range compared to the XEV.9e and Harrier.ev!

Xiaomi, best known for its smartphones and consumer electronics, is rapidly becoming a key player in the electric vehicle space. After grabbing global attention with its SU7 electric sedan, the brand has now officially launched its second EV — the Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV — in China. This all-electric SUV combines performance, luxury, and advanced features in a futuristic package, with prices starting from CNY 253,000 (around Rs 30.26 lakh).

Xiaomi YU7 SUV Price and Bookings

The YU7 electric SUV undercuts its main rival, the Tesla Model Y, by around CNY 10,000 (Rs 1.2 lakh). It is offered in three variants — Standard, Pro, and Max. The Standard variant is priced at CNY 253,500, the Pro at CNY 279,900, and the top-spec Max at CNY 329,900. Bookings have already started in China with a nominal deposit of CNY 20,000 (Rs 2.4 lakh). The response has been overwhelming, with Xiaomi receiving 2 lakh bookings in just 3 minutes, and close to 3 lakh within the first hour — much higher than what the SU7 sedan achieved at its debut.

Design and Dimensions

The Xiaomi YU7 follows an evolved design language that first debuted on the SU7 sedan. It has a sleek, wide-body look with minimal surface creases and clean panelling. The SUV gets stylish LED headlights, connected tail lamps, flush-fitting door handles, sporty bumpers, and aerodynamically designed alloy wheels. With a length of 4,999 mm, width of 1,996 mm, height of 1,608 mm, and a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the YU7 offers a spacious cabin and commanding road presence.

It is available in a total of 9 exterior colours, including Basalt Grey, Ocean Blue, Dawn Pink, Titanium Silver, Lava Orange, and Dusk Purple. The SUV also offers three alloy wheel sizes — 19-inch, 20-inch, and 21-inch, each optimised for either range, comfort, or handling. The top variants get Michelin tyres, floating centre caps with Xiaomi logo, and Brembo brake calipers in red or yellow finish.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Xiaomi YU7 offers a premium experience with multiple colour options like Coral Orange, Twilight Blue, Iris Purple, Ash Grey, and dual-tone Pine Grey. The highlight is the 1.1-metre wide Hyperscreen, combining three mini-LED displays including the driver cluster and infotainment system. There’s also a 16.1-inch central touchscreen, a 6.68-inch rear control screen, Nappa leather upholstery, and a massive 25-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system.

Rear passengers benefit from seats that recline up to 135 degrees and features like a 4.6-litre onboard fridge and rear mounts for a Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro. A unique Motion Sickness Relief Mode, co-developed with Beijing Tongren Hospital and Huashan Hospital, reduces motion sickness by 51%, aided by the Smart Chassis system that adjusts suspension settings in real time.

Further features include a smart panoramic sunroof, zero-gravity massage front seats, voice control via XiaoAI, Apple iPhone integration, and 27W onboard power supply. Additional utility features include 100W roof rail outputs, dual USB Type-C ports, and external projector support.

Battery Specs, Performance and Range

Xiaomi YU7 is built on 800V Silicon Carbide architecture, offering advanced thermal and power efficiency. The Standard and Pro variants get a 96.3 kWh battery, while the Max variant comes with a larger 101.7 kWh unit. Despite having the smallest battery, the RWD-only Standard version claims the highest range of 835 km (CLTC), thanks to its 315 bhp motor.

The Pro variant offers 489 bhp via a dual motor AWD setup with 770 km range, while the Max variant delivers 690 bhp and 760 km of claimed range. Xiaomi claims a 0-100 km/h time of 3.23 seconds, or just 2.98 seconds with rollout excluded, for the Max version. Fast charging tech allows the YU7 to charge from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes and add 620 km of range in just 15 minutes under ideal conditions.

To deliver a smooth and responsive drive, Xiaomi YU7 features double wishbone suspension at the front and a five-link setup at the rear, paired with dual-chamber air springs and adaptive dampers. Xiaomi’s Smart Chassis system ensures ride quality remains balanced across varying terrains, with continuous real-time adjustments.

Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV: India Launch

As of now, Xiaomi has not confirmed any launch plans for the YU7 in India, nor for its sedan sibling, the SU7. However, the overwhelming response in China reflects strong interest in high-tech EVs with competitive pricing.

The Xiaomi YU7 clearly showcases how far the brand has evolved from being a smartphone maker to an EV manufacturer. With cutting-edge technology, impressive specs, and luxurious interiors, the YU7 has positioned itself as a serious rival to global EV leaders like Tesla. Whether it makes its way to international markets, including India, remains to be seen.
