New Kia MPV is all set to launch next month with tons of features along with full new redesign of the model!
New Kia Carens is set to make its debut next month, with some big upgrades stored in by Kia. Now it has been confirmed that the Carens line-up will expand in April and June including a facelift and an electric variant. These updates will bring cosmetic changes, new features, and an all-new suffix for the facelifted model.
New Name and Positioning for the Carens Facelift
Kia India has revealed that the facelifted Carens will feature a fresh name, with a new suffix added to distinguish it from the current model. This updated version will be positioned higher in the line-up, offering a more premium feel. The facelift will sit above the current Carens, much like how Maruti Suzuki positions the Ertiga and XL6. While the current Carens tops out at Rs 19.70 lakh, prices for the new variants are expected to exceed Rs 20 lakh, with the Carens EV likely crossing Rs 25 lakh.
Design and Features of the Facelift
The updated Kia Carens will retain the silhouette of the current model but will feature significant cosmetic updates. These will include EV5-inspired elements, revised front and rear bumpers, a tweaked grille, new lighting elements, and fresh upholstery inside. Additionally, the facelift will come with premium features like a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS system. Spy shots of the facelift reveal a more SUV-like, muscular design, borrowing elements from newer Kia models like the Syros.
Engine Options and Powertrains
Under the hood, the Carens facelift will retain the same engine options as the current model, with the 1.5 L naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel engines. However, the 113 bhp 1.5 L Petrol engine may not be offered with the updated model, leaving the 158 bhp turbo petrol and 114 bhp diesel engine as the primary choices. These engines will likely be paired with both 6 Speed manual and automatic transmissions, while the turbo petrol engine gets the 7 Speed DCT Transmission; providing a range of options for consumers.
Kia Carens EV: A Premium Electric MPV
Alongside the facelifted Carens, Kia will also introduce an all-electric version of the MPV, expected to be the range-topper. The Carens EV will share its powertrain with the Hyundai Creta Electric, offering two battery pack options—42kWh and 51.4kWh. With an expected range of 390 and 473 km on a full charge, the Carens EV will be a practical option for eco-conscious families looking for an electric MPV.
With these new updates and the introduction of the Carens EV, Kia is set to enhance its offering in the MPV segment, giving customers more choice and features than ever before. Stay tuned for more details on the pricing and official launch dates of the new Kia Carens variants.
