A new MG Model with 50.3 kWh Battery Pack is all set to launch in April 2025!

MG Motor India is set to introduce a new variant of the Windsor EV with a larger 50.3 kWh battery pack, offering an extended range of up to 460 km. This new model is expected to launch in April 2025 and will further strengthen MG’s position in the Indian EV market.

50.3 kWh Battery Pack & Features

The upgraded Windsor EV will feature a 50.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the same unit found in the MG ZS EV. This battery will be available only in the top-end trim and is expected to offer a certified range of 460-461 km.

Charging times for the larger battery pack are:

  • 50 kW DC Fast Charger: 0-80% in approximately 46 minutes
  • Standard AC Charger: Full charge in around 16 hours

Additionally, the Indian-spec Windsor EV will come equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), enhancing safety and driving convenience.

Performance & Specifications

Currently, the Windsor EV is powered by a 38 kWh LFP battery, delivering 136 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. It has a claimed range of 331 km. The new 50.3 kWh variant may retain the same power output or receive performance enhancements. The MG ZS EV, which uses the same battery, features an electric motor producing 176 bhp and 280 Nm of torque.

Pricing

The existing Windsor EV is priced between Rs. 13.50 lakh and Rs. 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The 50.3 kWh battery variant is expected to cost Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.50 lakh more than the current model. However, MG has not confirmed whether this larger battery option will be available across all trims, but is expected to be reserved for Exclusive and Essence variants.

MG Windsor EV’s Growing Sales

Since its launch, MG has produced 15,000 units of the Windsor EV at its Halol, Gujarat facility. The new long-range variant is expected to boost sales further, making the Windsor EV an even stronger competitor in the Indian EV market. Windsor EV has gained immense popularity in India, surpassing the Tata Nexon EV and Punch EV in sales. It helped MG Motor secure a 21% market share in 2024, significantly reducing Tata Motors’ dominance from 73% to 62%. In January 2025 alone, MG sold 4,225 EVs, marking a 251% year-on-year growth. To capitalize on this momentum, MG is introducing a larger battery pack variant to attract more buyers.
