In the coming months, India will see launch of new Hyundai models out of which they’ll launch 3 EVs, 2 ICE Facelift updates, and 1 new SUV. In the upcoming list, we already have Creta and Alcazar Facelift, Exter EV, and more. We’ll list down all the details of the upcoming Hyundai vehicles in India!
The Hyundai Creta Facelift was spotted recently and a youtuber made a whole walkaround of the SUV. Hyundai is skipping the facelift update and going directly for the next-gen version. The video revealed so many details like the SUV will come with 360 Surround View Camera, Camera and Radar based Level 2 ADAS, and design inspiration taken directly from the Palisade that is sold overseas. The bumpers of the SUV are updated, the tailgate has been redesigned and looks similar to the Venue, and dawns an H-shaped LED DRLs like the Exter SUV. Additionally, the SUV gets a split unit vertical LED headlamp design and cube like detailing, and updated front grille.
The spy shots while revealed that the 17-inch alloy wheel design is the same as the outgoing version, there has been other test mules spotted with larger 18-inch alloy wheels. Moving to the interiors, it was fully covered, but still from what it looks like, it’ll sport dual 10.25-inch displays similar to the new-gen Verna, and no other major change is expected although new shades for the seat upholstery is expected. As for the engine options, the facelift will be getting the new 1.5 L 4 Cylinder Turbo Petrol Engine that generates 157.81 BHP and 253 NM of torque mated to 6 Speed Manual, and 7 Speed DCT Gearbox. It’ll also continue to offer the 1.5 L naturally-aspirated petrol engine, and the 1.5 L Diesel Engine.
Lastly, it already comes with features like ventilated seats, 8-way powered adjustable driver seat, wireless charging, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof and so much more. We now know it’ll get 360 Surround View Camera with front and rear parking sensors, and Level 2 ADAS with features same as the 2023 Hyundai Verna such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning, Auto High Beam Assist, and many more.
We expect Hyundai to add new features like Heated Seats, and Powered Seats for Co-Passenger and launch the Creta facelift in early 2024 as it rivals the Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
Hyundai Motors India was also spotted testing the Alcazar Facelift alongside the Creta Facelift, and we expect the design language of the Creta facelift to be carried over to the Alcazar. At the rear, it’ll feature connected LED tail lights same as the Creta Facelift. Other than that, expect all the features, exterior, and interior design. The Alcazar was already loaded with big features such as 360 Surround View Camera, ventilated seats, 10.25-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and so much more. To differentiate the Alcazar from the Creta Facelift, it might not get heated seats, but it could come with powered tailgate, dual-zone climate control, front parking sensors, and Level 2 ADAS with features same as the 2023 Hyundai Verna such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning, Auto High Beam Assist, and many more.
The Hyundai Kona EV has received significant international updates, particularly in terms of safety and comfort features, along with a redesigned exterior. We anticipate that the same updated model will be introduced in India, likely at a higher price point. However, this means Indian buyers will get the current generation model with updated interiors. The new interior features will include two 12.3-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, connected car technology, and more.
Globally, the Hyundai Kona is available with two battery packs and motor options. For the Indian market, it’s expected that the lower-powered motor, delivering 158 BHP and 250 NM of torque, along with the smaller 48.4 kWh battery pack, will be offered. Hyundai claims a WLTP-claimed range of 490 KM, but real-world range for the previous model in India was around 220 to 250 KM.
In India, the Hyundai Kona EV will face competition from the MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon.ev, Mahindra XUV400, and the BYD Atto 3 in the electric vehicle segment.
Hyundai Motors launched the ICE Exter SUV few months ago, and it’s performing great in sales. It was loaded with features for its prices like wireless charging, electric sunroof, digital instrument cluster, 8-inch infotainment system, automatic climate control, 6 Airbags standard, TPMS, ABS with EBD, ESC, height adjustable driver seat, and so much more. Seeing the response the SUV generated, Hyundai is going to launch the electric version of the SUV which’ll have all these features, and its possible Hyundai could replace the manual handbrake with electric hand brake with auto hold function just like the Tata doing with the Punch EV. It terms of battery pack, we can expect Hyundai to equip Exter EV with 30 kWh battery which will provide range somewhere between 250 – 300 KMs.
The Palisade is Hyundai’s response to Fortuner SUV by making their’s very premium with spacious cabin, flexible seating, and advanced connectivity features for a perfect getaway vehicles for families who wants to go on a long ride for vacations. The Palisade design language is very bold and futuristic, although it is somewhat polarising, but it’ll eventually grow on you. The Palisade measures 4995 MM in length, 1975 MM in width, and height of 1750 MM, so people will be very comfortable in the SUV. It features wheelbase of 2900 MM, Ground Clearance of 203 MM, Boot Space of 311 L which is little bigger than the Fortuner’s 296 L Boot Space, and 71 L fuel tank.
In other countries, the Palisade is powered by the 3.5 L or 3.8 L V6 Engine, but in India, its possible it could source the engine from Tucson, which would be the 2.0 L 4 Cylinder Turbo Diesel Engine producing 184 BHP and 416 NM of torque paired to 8 Speed Automatic Gearbox. In Features, it comes with ventilated and heated seats, 12.3-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 3-zone climate control, 8 way powered driver seat with 2-way lumbar support, Infinity Sound System, and so much more.
Safety Features include 7 Airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Rear Fog Lamps, Hill start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Parking Distance Warning, 360 Surround View Camera, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, and Level 2 ADAS with features like Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Assist, and so much more. Hyundai is expected to launch the Palisade SUV in India somewhere between Mid to Late 2024.
Hyundai was seen testing the Creta EV, and they were charging the battery from the bonnet. The test mule seen was of the outgoing version of Creta, and we know a facelift update is coming real soon. So, by the time the ICE Creta Facelift launches, Hyundai could start testing it with the new facelift version for the EV, and prepare it to launch by 2025. It’ll sport all the new features like 360 Surround View Camera, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, heated seats (possibly), front and rear parking sensors, dual 10.25-inch displays, electric parking brake with auto hold function, and so much more. In terms of battery pack, we expect it to be equipped with 45 – 50 kWh battery pack which could end up giving range of more than 500 KMs. We should start hearing about the EV before the end of 2024.
