New Skoda Superb: What you need to know!

As evident from the sketches, the new Skoda Superb has undergone significant design changes, but it’s worth noting that only few specific changes has been confirmed at the moment which includes the introduction of sleek LED DRLS, and revamped design for the rear lights. The new Superb model is based on the Volkswagen’s Passat, except the Passat is no longer available in the Indian market.

The car’s aesthetics remain sophisticated but have received updates, featuring slimmer headlights, and tail-lights, aligning it with the newly-launched Kodiaq which is launching at the same time. As for the powertrain options, the new Superb will offer a global engine line-up consisting of three petrol engines, two diesel engines, and a plug-in hybrid EV variant. Notably, all these engines will be equipped with an automatic transmission as standard.

Moving to the interiors, the new Skoda will get a completely redesigned cabin, emphasizing higher-quality materials, customizable rotary dials, new 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a commitment to sustainable materials. Notably, the rotary dials positioned beneath the 13-inch display features a 32 MM digital display.

Skoda says the outer two knobs can be configured for seat heating control while the center knob serves multiple functions such as adjusting infotainment volume, fan speed, air conditioning, drive modes, and the zoom feature for the satellite navigation system. Furthermore, the new Superb will feature four USB-C Ports for enhanced connectivity, massage seats for added comforts, and four-way adjustable lumbar support. The gear selector has been repositioned to the steering wheel optimizing the overall driving experience.

While it’ll a long time for the new-gen Superb to launch in India, the carmaker Skoda is going to re-launch the outgoing version in India. Skoda had to discontinue the model due to the BS6 Phase-II Emission Norms implementations which were effective from the April 1st, 2023. Few months ago, the carmaker had said they’re working on a plan to bring the Superb back in India. It’ll be available in India as a full import, and will be on sales in limited numbers.
