The upcoming new MG Gloster Facelift was spied camouflaged but had the front block pattern grille and the split LED Headlamps exposed. The SUV has grown in size which upon it’s launch will measure 5214 mm in length, 2016 mm in width, and 1876 mm in height. It surpasses the Toyota Fortuner by nearly 500 mm in length, making it a massive contender in the segment. The design updates are striking, featuring a bold new grille with block patterns, slim LED DRLs linked by an LED light bar, and vertically stacked tri-cube LED headlights.
On the side, new 6-spoke alloy wheels, likely 19-20 inches, add a refined touch, with the overall side profile remaining familiar. This refreshed exterior design ensures that the MG Gloster Facelift stands out with a near-production-ready look.
Inside the cabin, the MG Gloster Facelift introduces a modernized look. A new infotainment system, redesigned dashboard, and center console create a fresh, premium vibe. Two new rotary dials control drive modes and 4×4 selection, while the AC vents have been slimmed down for a sleeker appearance. The redesigned steering wheel further enhances the upscale feel.

The MG Gloster Facelift is expected to retain its current engine lineup. The first option is a 2.2L single-turbo diesel engine producing 159 BHP and 373.5 NM of torque. The second option is a more powerful 2.2L twin-turbo diesel engine, delivering 213 BHP and 478.5 NM of torque. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, offering fuel efficiency between 12-14 kmpl.
The facelift is well-equipped with features such as heated and ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, a digital instrument cluster, 3-zone climate control, a 360-Surround View Camera, powered first and second-row seats, a 12-speaker sound system, automatic power tailgate, 7 terrain modes, heated ORVMs, electro-mechanical differential lock, electric parking brake with auto-hold, and a driver fatigue reminder system.
The facelifted MG Gloster is expected to launch by the end of 2024, with a starting price around Rs. 40 lakh. With its larger dimensions, upgraded features, and competitive pricing, the MG Gloster Facelift is set to challenge the Toyota Fortuner and shake up the full-size SUV market.
The MG Gloster Facelift presents a strong challenge to the Toyota Fortuner, boasting larger dimensions, a bold new design, and an upgraded feature set. Its commanding road presence, advanced LED lighting, and premium tech like Level 2 ADAS and a redesigned interior give it an edge in modernity and comfort. These upgrades position the Gloster as a more luxurious, tech-savvy option, potentially appealing to buyers looking for advanced features at a competitive price.
However, the Toyota Fortuner still holds a strong reputation for off-road capability and long-term reliability, which could sway traditional SUV buyers. While the Gloster Facelift brings impressive features and a more premium feel, it remains to be seen whether it can dethrone the Fortuner’s longstanding dominance in the Indian full-size SUV market.
