Minimalist Design
The MG Windsor EV boasts a striking, minimalist design. Its sleek lines, flush door handles, and full-width LED light bars at the front and rear give it a futuristic look. The integrated headlamps and radar module enhance its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level 2 capabilities, ensuring a safer driving experience.
Inside, the Windsor EV continues the minimalist theme. Most controls are conveniently located on the steering wheel or digital displays. Key features include:
- 8.8-inch Digital Instrument Cluster
- 10.1-inch Floating Infotainment System
- 15.6-inch Central Control Screen powered by LingOS 2.0
For comfort and luxury, the EV offers front ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, and dual-zone climate control. Safety is prioritized with six airbags and advanced braking systems. A standout feature is the “Sofa Mode,” allowing the front seats to recline fully to 135 degrees for added relaxation.
Performance and Battery Options
The Windsor EV, also known as the Wuling Cloud EV abroad, comes with two battery pack options:
- 37.9kWh providing a range of 360 KM
- 50.6kWh offering a range of 460 KM
Both options are powered by a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 132 BHP. The specific version for the Indian market is yet to be confirmed.
Market Position and Pricing
Expected to launch in India by September 2024, the Windsor EV is projected to start at around Rs. 20 lakhs. This positions it competitively against models like the Tata Nexon EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Maruti eVX. It will sit below the ZS EV in MG’s lineup and is likely to be classified as a ‘CUV’ (Crossover Utility Vehicle), combining elements of a sedan and an SUV for a perfect blend of comfort, space, and practicality.
Conclusion
With its rigorous testing and innovative features, the MG Windsor EV promises to be a game-changer in the electric vehicle market. Its blend of advanced technology, luxury, and competitive pricing makes it a strong contender in the burgeoning EV segment. Stay tuned for the official launch likely in September 2024.
