New Hyundai i20 Launch Confirmed for June 2020, will be highly feature loaded

Hyundai Motor India Limited introduced quite a number of new models and facelifts in the last year and this year also, the carmakers are going to bring mid life update to a number of cars as well.

In this month only, Hyundai will launch compact sedan, Aura which will rival the likes of Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Aspire.At the Auto Expo 2020, New Creta, Tucson Facelift, Verna Facelift will be there in the production form among others while new i20 will be given a miss.

However, as per the latest report, the India launch of i20 has been confirmed for the month of June this year.The launch of New i20 will be one of the biggest launches of the year by Hyundai India.

Since it will get a generation update, it means that changes would be made on each and every aspect.The exterior of the premium hatchback will now feature slimmer and more modern elements.Upfront there it features projector headlamps and projector fog lamps as well.The front hexagonal grille is now more bigger in size.The wheel size is still 16 inch but the top end trim will now get new machined alloys.New sleeker LED tail lamp and new bumpers will give i20 a more refreshing look.

The cabin of the hatchback will be completely changed as well.There will be new upholstery, new instrument cluster and premium finish on controls and switches.Compared to present i20, it will be more feature laden as it gets all new full digital instrument cluster, Hyundai Blue link, all 4 disc brakes, smart electric sunroof, 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system, projector fog lamps among others.

The dimensions would be increased as well with total boot space expected to get bigger by 20-30%.New i20 will share the platform with Venue as it will be based on Advanced K1 platform which will also underpin the upcoming Kia’s compact SUV(likely to be called Sonet).

Under the hood, it will get 2 petrol and 1 diesel powertrains where there will be 1.0 litre turbo petrol 3 cylinder engine derived from Venue but with lower power and torque figures.The 2nd petrol variant will be the same in the current i20 but will be upgraded to BS-VI.And i20 will get 1.5 L diesel motor from Kia Seltos, again with slightly low power and torque figures.All the engines are likely to be offered with manual and automatic transmission option.

Price of New i20 compared to the present one, will be Rs. 30,000 higher for the petrol trims while the top end diesel automatic model of i20 2020 will be around Rs. 1 L – 1.5 L more expensive than the present top variant.

New generation Hyundai i20 will be competing with Maruti Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
