A new SUV has been spotted testing in India, with a launch scheduled for 2025. The SUV in question is the Tata Punch, which, as confirmed by Tata, is set to receive a Facelift update. This update will align its design more closely with the EV version.
At first glance, the updated Facelift SUV closely resembles the electric version released in January 2024. It shares many design elements with other Tata models like the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari. However, there are some distinctions between the regular and electric versions, much like the differences seen between the Nexon and its electric counterpart.

For instance, the standard version might lack certain premium features like the connected LED light bar at the front, and the bumper design may vary to differentiate the two. Apart from these differences, the SUV largely mirrors the electric version, with some new designs on the alloy wheels. Inside, the Facelift will be similar to the electric version, featuring a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a digital cockpit cluster, a new steering wheel design, and more.
However, like the Nexon, the standard version will miss out on features such as an electric parking brake, LED DRLs with welcome animations, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. Despite this, it will be a significant upgrade from the current non-electric version.
Regarding engines, the Facelift is expected to retain the same 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.2-litre CNG option. Both variants will likely be available with either a manual or automatic gearbox. The Facelift is anticipated to launch in 2025, continuing the popularity of the SUV in India since its introduction in 2021.
Maruti is set to join in 2026 with their SUV codenamed “Y43”.
