Ola Electric led the two-wheeler electric segment with significant sales over the year-on-year and month-on-month growth with TVS Motors at 2nd position reporting good numbers as well.
May 2023 Electric Two-Wheeler Sales
FADA has released the sales data of electric two-wheelers and it stood at 1,04,829 units in May 2023. It saw 147.15% year-on-year growth over the 42,415 units in May 2022, and 57.72% month-on-month growth over the 66,466 units in April 2022. The top 3 that are dominating the sales are the Ola Electric, TVS Motor, and Ather Energy. The Ola Electric – S1 and S1 Pro saw sales of 28,469 units in May 2023 which is 207.14% year-on-year growth from the 9,269 units in May 2022. It also saw improved month-on-month sales by 30.10% from the 21,882 units in April 2023.
TVS Motors is at 2nd position with sales of 20,261 units in May 2023 which is 4138.70% up from 478 units in May 2022, and the month-on-month growth is up by 132.19% from the 8,726 units in April 2023. The Ather Energy at third position with it’s 450X and the recently introduced new base variant, 450S, did sales of 15,266 units in May 2023 with a significant growth by 357.34% from the 3,338 units in May 2022, and the month-on-month growth is up by 97.08% from the 7,746 units in April 2023.

Sales from Bajaj Auto Group stood at 10,028 units last month with 453.42% year-on-year growth from the 1,812 units in May 2022, and month-on-month sales is up by 149.89% from the 4,013 units in April 2023. In this the Bajaj Auto Ltd, reports 9,930 units last month over the 1,812 units in May 2022 with 448.01% growth, and 172.58% month-on-month growth over the 3,643 units. Chetak contributed 98 units last month and 370 units in April 2023 resulting in decline in sales by 73.51%, and it wasn’t available last year.
Ampere Vehicles reports sales growth of 9,618 units in May 2023 over the 6,178 units in May 2022 with 55.68% year-on-year growth and month-on-month growth by 15.63% from the 8,318 units in April 2023. The Okaya EV reported growth in sales with 3,875 units in May 2023 which is up by 20294.74% from the 19 units in May 2022 and month-on-month growth by 148.08% from 1,562 units in April 2023. Okinawa Autotech sales dipped from 9,305 units in May 2022 to 2,905 units in May 2023 with year-on-year de-growth by 68.78% and month-on-month de-growth by 9.67% from the 3,216 units in April 2023.
Hero Electric also saw decline in sales from 2,971 units in May 2022 to 2,905 units in May 2023 with 29.01% year-on-year de-growth and month-on-month de-growth by 36.69% from the 3,331 units in April 2023. Bgauss Auto reports 1,813 units in May 2023 from the 770 units in April 2023 with month-on-month growth by 135.45%. The BattRe Electric reports 1,200 units in May 2023 from the 651 units in April 2023 with 84.33% month-on-month growth and Greaves Electric reports sales growth of 1,155 units in May 2023 over the 551 units in April 2023 with 109.62% month-on-month growth.
Lectric EV sales were 1,000 units in May 2023 over the 419 units in May 2022 and 848 units in April 2023 with an improved growth by 138.66% year-on-year, and 212.50% month-on-month. The Kinetic Green Energy sales improved by 5.19% from 848 units in April 2023 to 892 units in May 2023. Hero Motocorp’s Vida E-Scooter saw increase in sales by 419.44% from the 144 units in May 2022 to 748 units in May 2023. Others were on the list contributing 5,490 units in May 2023 with a 36.36% year-on-year de-growth from the 8,626 units in May 2022, but also saw growth by 25.11% month-on-month over the 4,388 units in April 2023.
