Tata Curvv just made headlines again by pulling a Boeing 737 that weighs 48,000 KGs!
Tata Curvv has once again proven its strength and engineering prowess by pulling a Boeing 737, weighing 48,000 kg, for a distance of 100 meters. This remarkable stunt highlights the capabilities of the new Curvv Hyperion Petrol engine and the structural integrity of Tata’s ATLAS platform.
Tata Curvv’s Record-Breaking Feat
This extraordinary event took place at the AIESL Hangar in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, where the Curvv was seen effortlessly towing the massive airplane. The stunt was officially recognized by the India Book of Records, further cementing Tata’s reputation for manufacturing robust and high-performing vehicles.
This is not the first time Tata Motors has attempted such an extreme demonstration. Just a few weeks earlier, the Curvv had already set a benchmark by pulling three fully loaded dipper trucks, each weighing 14 tonnes, for a combined weight of 42,000 kg.
Engineering Excellence of Tata Curvv
Unlike the previous Tata Hexa, which pulled a Boeing 737-800 using a ladder-frame chassis and a 2.2 L diesel engine producing 400 Nm of torque, the Curvv’s feat is even more impressive. The SUV is built on a monocoque ATLAS platform and is powered by a 1.2 L turbo petrol engine generating 123 BHP and 225 Nm of torque. Despite having a much smaller engine and lower torque output, the Curvv managed to achieve this record-breaking stunt with ease.
To execute the pull, a specially designed jig was attached directly to the Curvv’s mainframe, allowing it to tow the aircraft without any chassis damage. This further demonstrates the high Factor of Safety (FOS) built into the vehicle’s platform, ensuring durability under extreme stress.
Safety and Features
Apart from its performance capabilities, Tata Curvv is also one of the safest SUVs on sale in India. Both the Curvv and its electric counterpart, Curvv EV, have secured a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP for both Adult and Child Occupant Protection. Some Safety Features include: Hill Hold Control & Hill Descent Control, Level 2 ADAS, Blind Spot Monitor, 6 Airbags, 360 Camera, etc.
Tata’s Legacy of Stunts
Tata Motors has a history of performing such incredible stunts to showcase its vehicles’ durability. Years ago, the Tata Hexa pulled a Boeing 737-800, weighing over 41 tonnes, setting a benchmark in the industry. Now, the Curvv has taken this challenge even further, proving the strength of Tata’s engineering advancements.
With these stunts, Tata Motors continues to push the boundaries of vehicle performance, reinforcing its commitment to safety, durability, and innovation.
