Nexon Current against the Upcoming Facelift Update!

Tata Motors is expected to launch the Nexon Facelift in August with new features and upgrades over the current version. So, why don’t we compare the current Nexon against the upcoming Facelift Nexon to see what changes Tata Motors made on the SUV!

Tata Nexon Current vs Facelift – Exterior

The current Nexon front has black element that connect with the Halogen headlamps with LED DRLs inside the headlamps that kind of look similar to the rear taillamps and the bottom is the tri-arrow grille with fog lamps at the sides. From the side, it has creases to give it mean look. It has a non-functional roof-rail and rides on the 16-inch alloy wheels. The front and rear bumper are finished in silver faux skid plate. At the rear, it has LED taillamps with two lines within them and has a rear wiper at the rear windscreen with shark fin antenna on top.

As for the Nexon facelift, it has closed grille with Curvv inspired design and a bit of aggressive look. The side profile will remain the same except for the new alloy wheel design it would get, and at the rear, it’ll have connected LED taillamps few extra cuts and creases on the body.

The current Nexon has a 7-inch infotainment system placed above the AC vents, and the AC Vents are positioned horizontally. The Nexon does not have the dual-tone dashboard option. It has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with digital instrument cluster, and single-pane sunroof. It has a rotary dial before the gear lever for drive modes, and the buttons for the ventilated seats are placed at the bottom side of the seat. The Nexon has a leather seat upholstery and an 8-speaker Harman sound system. The seats at the rear are split in 60:40 ratio.

As for the facelift Nexon, it will come with new 10.25-inch infotainment system and a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster. It’ll also sport a new two-spoke multi function steering wheel that is Curvv-inspired with a digital display on it to control instrument cluster and few functions of infotainment system, and possibly a screen on the center console to control the AC. The center console in the facelift looks the same as the Nexon EV Prime/Max.

When it comes to Engine Options, the Current Nexon comes with two turbo powertrains – Petrol and Diesel. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine produces 113.42 bhp and 260 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic Gearbox. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine puts out 118.35 bhp and 170 Nm of torque mated to 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic Gearbox with fuel efficiency of 17.05 kmpl. 

The Nexon Facelift on the other hand will come with new 1.2-litre turbo petrol that is taken from the Curvv SUV. It’ll replace the 1.2-litre turbo petrol in the current Nexon. This new 1.2-litre turbo petrol produces 125 bhp and 225 Nm of torque paired to 6-speed Manual and 7-speed DCT Gearbox.

The Current Nexon comes with features such as ventilated seats, single-pane sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, rear AC, digital instrument cluster, 7-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay/Android Auto, cooled glovebox, height adjustable driver seat, 8-speaker Harman sound system, voice commands, and wireless charging pad. Safety features include six airbags, reverse-parking camera with rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, ESC, TPMS, automatic climate controls, cruise control, traction control, Front Disc Brakes, Hill Assist, and ISOFIX anchorages.

In addition to current Nexon, the facelift Nexon will come with features such as 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, new digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, and powered seats for driver.

The Current Tata Nexon is priced at Rs. 8.0 lakh for the base ‘XE’ variant and goes up to Rs. 14.60 lakh for the top variant, ‘XZA Plus LUXS Red Dark’ Diesel Automatic where as the Facelift Nexon is expected to start at Rs. 9 lakh for the entry level variant.

In the end, the decision to buy which version of Nexon depends totally on you, however, it is recommended to wait for the facelift as August is right around the corner, and will introduce some new features that isn’t seen in this segment giving Nexon head start in sales, and it’ll also sport a new turbo petrol engine as well with powerful performance. Although you can go ahead and buy the current version as its price would be lesser than the upcoming facelift, and you don’t miss out on many features. So, what are you going to do?
