The Kia Seltos continues to be a good contender in the segment in India. In 2024, total sales stood at 73,745 units, but it saw fluctuating trends with both sharp gains and steep declines. Here’s a closer look at its monthly sales performance and key factors that influenced the numbers.
Kia Seltos began 2024 with 6,391 units in January. February saw a slight dip to 6,265 units (-2%). During this time Kia Seltos achieved the 1 lakh sales milestone since it’s first introduction in 2019. March rebounded strongly with 7,912 units (+26.3%), making it one of the best months. April dropped to 6,734 units (-14.9%), while May remained stable at 6,736 units.
June declined to 6,306 units (-6.4%), followed by a sharper fall in July to 5,347 units (-15.2%). In July, Kia increased the pricing of all its variants by Rs. 19,000. August saw a recovery with 6,536 units (+22.2%), continuing into September with 6,959 units (+6.5%). September again saw increase in pricing of the SUV by Rs. 8,000.
October sales dropped to 6,365 units (-8.5%), and November declined further to 5,364 units (-15.7%). December saw the steepest fall to 2,830 units (-47.2%), likely due to year-end buyer sentiment and anticipation for new models.
The Seltos witnessed strong months in March and August, mainly driven by demand for updated variants and consumer interest in mid-size SUVs. However, competition from models like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara; impacted sales in certain months. Price hikes, feature updates, and market conditions also played a role in fluctuating demand.
Festive seasons in August and September contributed to positive growth, while post-festival months like November and December saw significant drops. Customer preference for newer models and year-end stock clearance strategies may have further influenced sales trends.
Despite market challenges, Kia Seltos maintained steady sales through most of 2024, closing the year with 73,745 units sold. While strong performances in March and August showcased its demand, the sharp declines in the later months indicate shifting buyer preferences. On the other hand, Kia will be launching new-generation Kia Seltos by this year end which should help it achieve more sales.
