Toyota Rumion against the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

Toyota India recently announced that it’ll be launching the Ertiga-based MUV, Rumion sometime in September 2023. So, we thought why don’t we compare the Toyota Rumion against it’s own model, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

Toyota Rumion vs Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder – Design

From the outside, the Toyota Rumion at the front has few cuts on the bonnet, front grille has small hexagonal pattern with chrome around the grille and Toyota logo at the center. The headlamps will be halogen and below that will be LED fog lamps, and there is more chrome below the big grille. From the side, the body has cuts and creases same as the Ertiga, 15-inch alloy wheels with new design, and chrome door handles. Moving to the rear, the design will be same as the Ertiga like the L-shaped LED taillamps, and rear wiper on the rear windscreen.

At the front, the Hyryder has blacked out element with chrome line that is connected at both the sides of LED lights, chrome inserts around the fog lamps with rounded square grille and the bumper both at the front and rear finished in faux silver skid plate. Moving to the side, it has chrome line at the bottom window frame, cuts on the doors with 17-inch alloy wheels, and non-functional roof rails contributing towards the design. At the rear, it has LED taillamps joining the chrome line with Toyota logo and reverse parking light with indicators above it are vertically positioned.

From the inside, Toyota Rumion has an 7-inch infotainment system placed between the AC vents and the AC vents at the sides are in rectangle shape that is positioned horizontally to blend with the dashboard design. It has dual-tone dashboard design option as well. The Rumion has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with analog instrument cluster and a TFT display between the two analog dials, and the pedals are finished in black color. It has an armrest that doesn’t slide and fabric seat upholstery. Moving to the second row, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio, and the third row seats is split in 50:50 ratio, and the AC vents is placed on the roof. The third row seats are split in 50:50 ratio and the Rumion has a 6-speaker Arkamy’s sound system.

From the inside, the Hyryder has a 9-inch infotainment system placed above the AC vents and the AC vents at the sides positioned horizontally. It does have the dual-tone dashboard theme option as well with leather seat upholstery. The Hyryder has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster although the image you’re seeing has Analog instrument cluster which is available in all the variants except the top variant. The Hyryder has two USB ports at the front and rear, buttons for ventilated seats, driver mode, and EV mode. The Hyryder also has a Heads-up Display top of the instrument cluster. At the rear, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio and it has a 6-speaker Arkamy’s sound system.

In terms of Dimensions, the Rumion measures 4490mm in length, 1735mm in width, and 1690mm in height. The Hyryder on the other hand measures 4365mm in length which is 125mm shorter, width of 1795mm which is 60mm wider, and height of 1645mm that is 45mm taller. The Rumion has a wheelbase of 2740mm, and ground clearance of 185mm where as the Hyryder has a wheelbase of 2600mm that is 140mm shorter, and ground clearance of 210mm which is higher by 25mm. The Rumion has a boot space of 209 litres which is smaller by 164 litres than the 373 litres boot space of Hyryder. Both the Rumion and the Hyryder has petrol fuel tank of 45 litres, and the Rumion comes with 60 litres CNG cylinder which is 5 litres bigger than the 55 litre CNG Cylinder of Hyryder.

Other than the Petrol powertrain, both the Toyota model is powered by CNG powertrain. The 1.5-litre K15C CNG Engine produces 86.63 bhp and 121.5 Nm of torque paired to 5-speed Manual Gearbox with fuel efficiency of 26.11 km/kg for the Rumion, and 26.6 km/kg for the Hyryder.
