Despite tough competition from its rival, Maruti Ertiga, Kia Carens managed to sell 68,000 Units in 2023.
Kia Carens recorded total sales of 68,000 units in 2023. The year saw significant fluctuations, with strong growth in some months and sharp declines in others. Despite challenges, the Carens maintained steady demand in the MPV segment.
Monthly Sales Performance of Kia Carens in 2023
January started strong with 7,900 units sold. February saw a major drop to 6,248 units, a decline of 20.91 percent. Sales remained weak in March at 6,102 units, down by 2.34 percent. Kia in March then launched the Carens with the 1.5 L Turbo Petrol engine delivering 158 BHP, 253 NM Torque with transmission choice being 6 Speed iMT and 7 Speed DCT. April recorded minimal growth, reaching 6,107 units with just a 0.08 percent increase. At this time, Kia launched the Luxury (O) variant for the Carens which is available with Automatic transmissions only with Petrol and Diesel.
May sales improved slightly to 6,367 units, marking a 4.26 percent rise. June saw the highest growth of the year, reaching 8,047 units, a strong 26.39 percent increase. However, sales declined sharply in July to 6,002 units, down by 25.41 percent.
August recorded a further drop to 4,359 units, declining by 27.37 percent. September saw little change, with 4,330 units sold, marking a 0.67 percent drop. October brought a strong recovery, with sales rising to 5,355 units, a 23.67 percent increase. In this month, Kia launched the X-Line edition for both Turbo Petrol and Diesel which sees addition of Rear Seats Entertainment Units. Along with that, it’s only available in 6-Seater configuration with Captain Seats in second row.
November sales dropped to 4,620 units, reflecting a 13.73 percent decline. December saw the steepest fall of the year, with sales dropping to 2,563 units, a 44.52 percent decline, likely due to year-end buying trends and anticipation for new models.
Reasons for Fluctuations in Kia Carens Sales
The Kia Carens saw peak sales in June and October, likely due to festive season demand and special offers. Competition from the Maruti Ertiga have affected demand in slower months. Pricing strategies, changing consumer preferences, and updates also played a role in sales trends. The sharp decline in November and December suggests that buyers may have postponed purchases in anticipation of updated models in 2024. The overall stability in mid-year indicates continued demand for the Carens among families and fleet buyers.
Final Thoughts
Kia Carens finished 2023 with 68,000 units sold, showing its strong position in the MPV segment. While sales fluctuated throughout the year, its popularity remained intact. With possible upgrades and new updates expected in 2024, the Kia Carens is likely to continue attracting buyers in the market.
