Maruti Suzuki has introduced a significant safety update for the Brezza, one of its best-selling compact SUVs. The model now comes equipped with 6 airbags as standard across all variants, enhancing passenger protection. Alongside this update, Maruti has also revised the pricing, making the Brezza costlier than before.
Enhanced Safety Features
To improve safety, Maruti Suzuki has made 6 airbags standard across all trims. This includes two front airbags for the driver and co-passenger, two side airbags, and two curtain airbags. This update significantly improves occupant protection during accidents.
Additionally, the Brezza now features 3-point ELR seatbelts for all seats, height-adjustable seatbelts for front passengers, a rear center armrest with cup holders, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, and adjustable rear headrests. Other safety features include a seat belt warning system, child lock, overspeed warning alert, anti-theft engine immobilizer, speed-sensing door locks, and central locking.
Revised Prices and Variants
With these safety upgrades, Maruti Suzuki has increased the prices of the Brezza. The base LXi trim now costs Rs. 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom) after a Rs. 15,000 hike. The VXi and ZXi trims have seen price increases of Rs. 5,500 and Rs. 11,500, respectively. However, the top-spec ZXi+ variants remain unaffected by the price revision. The top-end variant continues to be priced at Rs. 17.42 lakh (ex-showroom).
Powertrain and Mileage
The Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 102 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The engine is equipped with Maruti’s smart hybrid system, which features brake energy regeneration, idle start-stop, and torque assist during acceleration. Fuel efficiency ranges from 17.03 kmpl to 18.76 kmpl, depending on the variant.
Features and Design Updates
The Brezza retains its modern and rugged design with a bold front grille, LED DRLs, updated bumpers, and stylish alloy wheels. Inside, it offers a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, a sunroof, a wireless charger, and cruise control.
With these updates, Maruti Suzuki aims to keep the Brezza competitive in the growing compact SUV segment, offering a combination of safety, technology, and premium features.
