Kia is actively working on the next-generation Seltos, set to launch globally in early 2026. Recent spy images from South Korea and Northern Europe confirm that the SUV is undergoing testing in extreme conditions. The new Seltos is expected to feature both gasoline and hybrid powertrain options, along with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system for select variants.
The upcoming Seltos will adopt a more rugged and upright front-end design, aligning with Kia’s latest Opposites United philosophy. The front fascia is likely to feature a redesigned grille inspired by Kia’s larger SUVs. The headlamps will be vertically stacked LED units, giving the SUV a sharper look.
At the rear, the Seltos will get sleeker, vertically oriented LED taillights, similar to Kia’s electric SUV lineup. Other expected changes include redesigned bumpers, new alloy wheels, and minor tweaks to the overall proportions, making the SUV appear slightly boxier.
While there are no interior images yet, Kia is expected to update the cabin with a redesigned dashboard, a more premium center console, and improved material quality. The next-gen Seltos is likely to feature a larger digital instrument cluster, an updated touchscreen infotainment system, and enhanced connectivity options. Over-the-air (OTA) software updates and new driver-assist features will also be part of the package.
Kia will continue to offer gasoline engine options, including the familiar 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L diesel engines for the Indian market. However, a new hybrid powertrain will also be introduced, similar to the systems seen in the Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro. This self-charging hybrid will likely enhance fuel efficiency while reducing emissions. Additionally, an e-AWD hybrid system is reportedly in development. If introduced, it would make the Seltos the first hybrid model in its segment to offer all-wheel drive, improving traction and performance in different driving conditions.
Production of the next-generation Kia Seltos is set to begin in South Korea in August 2025, with a global debut expected in January 2026. The India launch is likely to take place in the second half of 2026. With declining sales despite the 2023 facelift, Kia will be aiming for a strong comeback with the new-generation Seltos.
