Here are five upcoming MPVs set to launch in India this year. MG will introduce the premium M9, while Maruti is readying the next-gen Ertiga with updated styling and features. Renault will bring a facelifted Triber, and Nissan is preparing an all-new MPV based on Renault’s platform. Kia is also expected to unveil the Carens-Clavis Electric MPV, expanding its EV lineup.

MG 9 MPV

MG M9 electric MPV is expected to launch in India by July 2025, priced around Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom). First showcased as the Mifa 9 at the 2023 Auto Expo, it features a spacious three-row, 7-seater layout with luxurious second-row reclining ottoman seats offering eight massage functions. The M9 comes equipped with several premium features like three-zone climate control, seat ventilation, dual sunroofs, powered sliding rear doors, a second-row touchscreen panel, and rear entertainment screens. It sports a boxy MPV design with a full-width LED light bar, vertical tail-lights connected via an LED strip, chrome accents, and a neatly integrated front bumper. MG will initially retail the M9 through its premium MG Select outlets in 12 cities across India, targeting buyers of the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire. Unlike its competitors, the M9 features a pure-electric powertrain with the following battery specs:

  • 90 kWh Battery Pack – Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD) – 242 BHP, 350 NM – 430 KM Range

Kia Carens Clavis EV

  • Battery Specs: 42-50 kWh battery pack, 350-450 km Range [Expected]

New-Gen Maruti Ertiga

Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce new generation Ertiga for the Indian Market which would boast exterior changes inspired from the Invicto and Grand Vitara like-interiors which includes 9-inch Infotainment System and Sunroof on top. Maruti will also offer the new 1.5 L Z12E Petrol engine for the MPV which will help them achieve better fuel efficiency. A CNG Powertrain will also be on offer. As for Features, we expect Maruti to offer front ventilated seats, 360 Surround View Camera, Rear Sunshades, and Heads-up Display (HUD). Maruti is expected to launch it either by this year end or sometime in 2026.

Renault Triber Facelift

The 2025 Renault Triber facelift is expected to feature a refreshed front fascia with revised headlights and a sportier design, while the rear may get minor tweaks to the tail lamps and bumpers. It could introduce stylized steel or optional alloy wheels. Inside, updates may include a larger touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, automatic climate control, auto headlights, an auto-dimming IRVM, and a wireless charging pad, along with improved materials and added safety features. It will retain the 1.0L petrol engine (71 bhp, 96 Nm) with 5-speed manual and AMT options, while a turbo-petrol remains unlikely, though a dealer-installed CNG kit may be offered. With prices currently between Rs. 6.10 lakh and Rs. 8.98 lakh (ex-showroom), a major price hike is not expected, and a launch is anticipated soon as test mules have been spotted in Chennai.

Triber-based New Nissan MPV

Expected Launch: H2 2025

Nissan will be launching Renault Triber based MPV which will have same dimensions. Nissan shared a teaser image on how the MPV will look. Features-wise it’ll have same as Triber like 7-inch Infotainment system, digital cluster, automatic climate control, PM 2.5 Air Filter, Rear AC Vents, cooled glovebox, etc. Engine Options will be the same of 1.0 L NA Petrol delivering 72 bhp and 96 Nm with 5 Speed Manual and AMT Gearbox.
