April is packed with major car launches across segments. MG debuts the Cyberster and M9, while Kia refreshes the Carens. Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Skoda, and Volkswagen join in with the eVitara, Harrier EV, new-gen Kodiaq, and Tiguan R Line.

New-Generation Skoda Kodiaq

Launch: April 2025

The new Skoda Kodiaq evolves its design with a familiar grille, sleeker LED headlights, and a redesigned bumper featuring a honeycomb mesh and aggressive air intakes. It now sports 20-inch alloy wheels, a tapered roofline, rounded wheel arches with black cladding, and sleeker C-shaped connected tail lights. Inside, the Kodiaq boasts a revamped cabin with a layered dashboard made of sustainable materials. It features a larger 13-inch touchscreen, physical controls, and a relocated gear stalk behind the steering wheel for added console space, maintaining a modern yet premium feel. The Kodiaq is powered by the 2.0 L Turbocharged Petrol engine delivering 198 BHP and 320 NM Torque paired to 7 Speed DCT Transmission. Skoda aims to locally assemble the knocked-down parts with launch expected to take place in April 2025.

VW Tiguan R-Line

Launch: April 14th, 2025

The Volkswagen Tiguan R Line, set to launch on April 14th, and will be India’s most expensive VW SUV. It’s 30mm longer than the current model and gets a sportier design with new LED light strips, 19-inch alloys, and R Line-specific styling. Inside, it features a 12.9-inch MIB4 infotainment system, a 10.3-inch digital cluster, sports seats, and tri-zone ambient lighting. Powered by a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine (201 bhp, 320Nm) with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and AWD, it does 0-100kph in 7.1s with a 229 kph top speed. As a CBU, expect a price around Rs. 50 lakh.

MG Cyberster

Launch: April 2025

MG’s first all-electric sports car, the Cyberster, will launch in India next month via MG Select showrooms. It features a striking design with a swooping front, scissor doors, 20-inch wheels, and arrow-shaped tail lamps. Inside, it gets a 10.25-inch digital cluster, multiple touchscreens, ADAS, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. India will get the top-spec 77kWh AWD variant (505 bhp, 725Nm, 3.2s 0-100kph, 580 km range), with MG considering a lower-spec 64kWh RWD option based on demand.

MG 9 MPV

MG M9 electric MPV is expected to launch in India between March – April 2025, priced around Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom). First showcased as the Mifa 9 at the 2023 Auto Expo, it features a spacious three-row, 7-seater layout with luxurious second-row reclining ottoman seats offering eight massage functions. The M9 comes equipped with several premium features like three-zone climate control, seat ventilation, dual sunroofs, powered sliding rear doors, a second-row touchscreen panel, and rear entertainment screens. It sports a boxy MPV design with a full-width LED light bar, vertical tail-lights connected via an LED strip, chrome accents, and a neatly integrated front bumper. MG will initially retail the M9 through its premium MG Select outlets in 12 cities across India, targeting buyers of the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire. Unlike its competitors, the M9 features a pure-electric powertrain with the following battery specs:

  • 90 kWh Battery Pack – Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD) – 242 BHP, 350 NM – 430 KM Range

Tata Harrier EV

Expected Launch: April 2025

Tata unveiled the production-ready Harrier EV at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, showcasing multiple upgrades over its earlier prototype. This electric iteration of the Harrier introduces advanced technology and segment-first features, including a “Summon Mode” that enables the SUV to autonomously drive toward the user, eliminating the need to walk to the vehicle.

Design-wise, the Harrier EV sports a closed front grille, 19-inch alloy wheels, and .ev badging on the tailgate and front doors. Inside, it retains the familiar ICE model layout but now adopts a white-themed interior for a more premium appeal.

On the performance front, Tata has confirmed that the Harrier EV will deliver 500 Nm of torque and come equipped with an All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system. It also features new terrain modes, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, along with other exclusive enhancements.

The Harrier EV was supposed to launch by March 2025, but its now expected to launch by this month positioning itself as a direct rival to the Mahindra XEV.9e.

Maruti eVitara

Expected Launch: April 2025

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, which is expected to launch in April, competes with the likes of Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE 6. The e-Vitara, inspired by the 2023 eVX concept, offers two battery options: 49kWh and 61kWh, paired with front-mounted motors producing 141 bhp and 171 bhp, respectively, with a shared torque output of 192.5 Nm. Built on a skateboard platform co-developed with Toyota, it features LFP ‘blade’ cells from BYD and promises an MIDC range of over 500km with the larger 61 kWh battery pack.

The e-Vitara showcases a muscular design with a toned-down version of its concept styling, 18-inch wheels, and a range of 10 colors with dual-tone options. Its interior boasts a unique dashboard layout, featuring a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, a 10.1-inch digital cluster, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and Level 2 ADAS. The SUV also includes a flat-bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control, and premium upholstery. With three drive modes and safety features like 7 airbags, ADAS, the eVitara combines practicality with cutting-edge tech to redefine Maruti’s presence in the EV segment.
