New Skoda’s flagship SUV is set to launch next week with major upgrades that its rival, Fortuner won’t see it coming.

The all-new Skoda Kodiaq is all set to launch in India on April 17, 2025. Unveiled earlier at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the second-generation Kodiaq will be locally assembled and offered in two variants – Laurin & Klement (L&K) and Sportline. It will rival premium full-size SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian, and Hyundai Tucson.

New-Gen Skoda Kodiaq – Design & Styling

The new Skoda Kodiaq features an evolutionary yet sharper design compared to its predecessor. Up front, it gets a more aggressive grille with vertical slats and illuminated elements, split LED headlamps, and a reworked bumper with large air intakes and C-shaped air curtains that improve aerodynamics.

On the sides, the SUV gets sculpted panels, a muscular bonnet, and 18-inch (standard) or optional 20-inch alloy wheels depending on the variant. A panoramic sunroof and a more tapered roofline add to the premium stance. At the rear, it sports updated LED tail-lamps connected by a full-width light bar, a revised tailgate, and a tweaked bumper.

The Sportline variant comes with a blacked-out treatment for the grille, D-pillars, and rear bumper, while the L&K gets chrome and silver highlights for a more luxurious look.

Interior, Features & Technology

Inside, the 2025 Kodiaq adopts a modern, minimalistic layout. The dashboard features a winged design, highlighted by a free-floating 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Other notable features include a new two-spoke steering wheel with Skoda lettering, configurable rotary dials for HVAC and infotainment control, a 360-degree camera, park assist, and 3-zone climate control.

  • Laurin & Klement trim offers powered, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, along with a premium interior finish.
  • Sportline trim gets sportier bucket seats but misses out on seat heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

Thanks to the updated MQB EVO platform, the new Kodiaq is larger in dimensions, translating to more cabin space and better long-distance comfort for families.

Engine Specs & Performance

Powering the new-gen Skoda Kodiaq is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol engine, delivering 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and comes with standard all-wheel drive (AWD).

The SUV claims an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 14.86 kmpl. In global markets, the Kodiaq is available with multiple powertrain options, including a plug-in hybrid, but for India, only the petrol variant will be offered initially.
