New Fortuner Rival in Full Black Exterior Paint has been spotted indicating the launch will take in coming days!
MG Motor is all set to introduce a new flagship SUV for the Indian market – the MG Majestor, previously known as the Gloster facelift. Positioned as a more upmarket offering, the Majestor will sit above the Gloster in the brand’s SUV portfolio and will not replace it. Recently, the SUV was spied in a bold black colour during testing in Jaipur, following an earlier white test mule sighting in Delhi.
Design
The MG Majestor is essentially a re-engineered version of the Maxus D90, which is sold in international markets. Its massive size and bold styling give it a dominating presence on the road. It features a split headlamp design with sleek LED DRLs on top and vertically stacked LED projector headlamps. The front grille is finished in black with a prominent MG logo, while the tail section gets a modern-looking Morris Garages lettering instead of the traditional MG badge seen on the Gloster.
New design elements include sleeker LED tail lamps, a connected LED light bar, chunky skid plates, new twin-spoke alloy wheels, and dual exhausts with quadrilateral chrome tips. The Majestor is expected to measure over 5 metres in length, making it the most affordable 5m+ SUV in India when launched.
Premium Interiors
Inside, the MG Majestor is likely to offer a revamped cabin experience with a larger free-standing infotainment screen, a redesigned dashboard, and an upgraded centre console. The SUV will feature three locking differentials, compared to the single rear-locking diff on the Gloster and Toyota Fortuner. Key expected features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, ventilated and massage-enabled powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and enhanced safety technologies.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, the MG Majestor will use the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that powers the Gloster. This engine is expected to produce around 213–215 bhp and up to 500 Nm of peak torque. It will be paired with an 8-speed ZF-sourced torque converter automatic gearbox. A selectable four-wheel-drive system will also be on offer, making it suitable for off-road conditions as well.
Launch Timeline and Rivals
The MG Majestor is expected to launch in India in the second half of 2025. The SUV was also showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 alongside the M9 electric MPV and the Cyberster electric sportscar. When launched, the Majestor will compete with premium SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner Legender, Skoda Kodiaq, and Volkswagen Taigun R-Line, offering more size, tech, and road presence at a competitive price.
