This SUV with Massive Road Presence Spotted in Indore!

DC Design, now known as DC2, underwent a major transformation after teaming up with Mercury EV-Tech. This strategic alliance led to the formation of DC2 Mercury Cars, followed by Mercury EV-Tech acquiring a 69.84% stake in the new company. Their first product, the DC2 Tanq electric SUV, made its debut at the 2025 Auto Expo in Delhi.

DC2 Tanq Electric SUV Spied in Indore

Although the company announced a 2026 launch timeline for the Tanq at the Auto Expo, a test vehicle has now been spotted in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, by auto enthusiast Utkarsh Arya. Surprisingly, the spotted model wore a white registration plate, indicating that it may already be road-approved and registered—something usually seen only after a vehicle completes all legal and technical clearances.

Unlike camouflaged test mules, this Tanq was completely exposed and appeared production-ready. Its large dimensions and bold styling gave it serious road presence, drawing a lot of attention from onlookers.

Design Highlights and Features

The DC2 Tanq showcased at the Auto Expo had a futuristic concept design, but this spotted model looks quite close to that version. It featured:

  • Rear-view cameras instead of traditional mirrors

  • 22-inch alloy wheels fitted with massive 33-inch off-road tyres

  • Wide LED tail lamps that connect across the rear

  • Red inserts on the bumper, adding to the dramatic rear look

  • High ground clearance for better off-road ability

Though the rear-view cameras might be replaced with mirrors in the final production version due to Indian regulations, the design direction remains bold and unconventional.

Performance and Platform Details

The DC2 Tanq is built on an all-new EV platform. It’s expected to pack a massive 180 kWh battery pack and generate up to 650 bhp of peak power. Clearly targeting the premium EV segment, it combines rugged off-road capabilities with futuristic aesthetics.

DC2’s strong brand recognition in India, combined with Mercury EV-Tech’s technical backing, could give the Tanq an edge in the growing electric SUV market. Its aggressive design may not appeal to everyone, but it certainly stands out on Indian roads.

Final Thoughts

The spotting of the DC2 Tanq EV in Indore with white number plates raises questions about an early, low-key rollout or special pilot testing phase. While an official launch is still expected in 2026, the vehicle’s road presence suggests that development may be ahead of schedule.
