The much-anticipated 2025 KTM 390 Enduro R has officially launched in India, priced at Rs. 3.37 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks KTM’s first dedicated enduro motorcycle in the Indian market, sitting between the entry-level 390 Adventure X and the standard 390 Adventure in the brand’s lineup.

Engine and Performance

The 390 Enduro R is powered by the same 399 cc LC4c single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine seen on the new-gen 390 Adventure. It produces 46 PS and 39 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and comes equipped with a slipper clutch and assist function.

Though mechanically similar to the 390 Adventure, the 390 Enduro R is tuned for serious off-road use. The India-spec model gets a revised suspension setup with 205 mm of front travel (USD forks) and 200 mm rear travel (monoshock). While the global version offers 230 mm of travel and higher ground clearance, the Indian model lowers it slightly to 253 mm, with a more accessible 860 mm seat height—30 mm lower than the global-spec.

Chassis and Braking

The motorcycle uses a steel trellis frame and rides on spoke wheels—21-inch front and 18-inch rear—fitted with Mitas Trail+ dual-purpose tyres. Braking duties are handled by a 285 mm front disc and 240 mm rear disc, supported by switchable dual-channel ABS. The front disc is smaller than the 390 Adventure’s 320 mm unit, offering better off-road modulation.

Design and Features

Designed to be lean and lightweight, the 390 Enduro R drops most of the body panels in favour of a minimalist build. It features a compact headlamp, tall front beak, flat seat, and reduced kerb weight of 177 kg—about 5 to 6 kg lighter than the 390 Adventure.

Despite the stripped-down design, KTM has included useful tech such as:

  • 4.1-inch TFT display with Bluetooth
  • Turn-by-turn navigation
  • Music and call controls
  • Two riding modes
  • Switchable ABS

However, it misses out on cruise control, which is offered on the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure.

Rivals

The KTM 390 Enduro R is aimed at riders seeking a more focused, agile, and responsive off-road experience. It competes indirectly with models like the Kawasaki KLX230, though no direct rival exists in this segment currently. KTM will also launch the international-spec Enduro R with longer suspension travel and higher clearance soon, along with the 390 Supermoto R.

Final Thoughts

With its competitive pricing, capable engine, off-road-ready hardware, and essential features, the 2025 KTM 390 Enduro R brings serious dual-sport credentials to India. It offers a compelling middle-ground for enthusiasts wanting more than a soft-roader, without stepping into the high-end rally territory.
